Random Questions Regarding Music

It could be questions about music itself, like music theory, styles/genre, history, etc.

One thing that has bothered me in the last little while is Alexander Stewart’s Backwards. I can’t seem to figure out why that song reminds me of at least two other hits. I actually think it’s a compilation of a whole whack of songs. Not sure if it’s done on purpose or not. Anyway, it’s bothering me. The chord structures/progression, melodies, etc. I can’t be the only one that has noticed this.

Throughout history, people have copied phrases, bits and pieces from other artists. Some are with permission, others not so much.

Anyway, music soothes the savage beast. I enjoy listening to all kinds of music and more than just appreciate them. I used to hate rap and called it crap, but I get it now.

Ever come across a song and the lyrics aren’t actually what you thought it was? Embarrassing at times. I honestly thought it was “Mexican Lucky,” instead of, “up all night to get lucky.” Gulolol

Circle of 5th's. Brings back memories of music theory courses at UBC.

This is by far, the most amazing lesson in music I've ever watched. Thank you youtube and the web...........
