inb4 OJ gets a white one :troll:

in all seriousness, all those offroad tech and suspension controls shown were pretty cool. looks like price gonna be around high 40ks - low 60ks?

StylinRed 07-13-2020 11:03 PM

I I want one damn

That's some impressive stuff. They didn't just try to compete with the Wrangler, they went to kick its teeth in.

twitchyzero 07-13-2020 11:33 PM

5.0 in 2022?

cant see dealers wanting to bother with base models
i expect them in the 50s for the average hot seller (4-dr mid trim)

MarkyMark 07-13-2020 11:42 PM

Ford didn't fuck around on this one, Jeeps gonna have to do more than just stuff a V8 in theirs if they don't want to lose a bunch of customers.

I expect the dealers here to have a bunch of fully loaded 4 doors asking around 80k lol

vitaminG 07-14-2020 04:02 AM

Bronco is independent front suspension though. I'm sure Ford knows the average buyer doesn't care but Jeep is still going to have bragging rights for hardcore rock crawling

At that price, you may as well get a loaded Defender.

twitchyzero 07-14-2020 07:21 AM

is that saddle interior part of Lux pkg?

too bad you cant opt for it in Black Diamond with Sasquatch pkg

tofu1413 07-14-2020 08:32 AM

looks like the sweet spot is the 40-50k.

still a bit cheaper than the 4runner trd pro.

Hondaracer 07-14-2020 08:41 AM

Looks pretty good..

Personally I think Jeeps are a bit of a niche market and this is going to have more mass appeal than a wrangler etc. Personally I would never even consider getting a Jeep but in terms of an SUV which similar capability I’d be far more likely to get into somthing like this

CorneringArtist 07-14-2020 10:10 AM

Fuck a Corolla GR, imma go for this. Fucking headasses at Toyota not even bothering to compete, their answer to this in 2021 for the 4Runner is LED headlights. The SR5 is priced right where the base 4-door is, and all you get is a 10 year old powertrain.

AstulzerRZD 07-14-2020 10:32 AM

This eerily reminds me of my Mustang - stylish product that makes you feel all the right things.

Hope they can get the build quality (i.e. no crazy rattles 1 year in/top that seals against the windows 50% of the time) and 10AT transmission tune right (literally redline upshift stalling or 5-4, 2-1 downshift locking up wheels).

Dbone 07-14-2020 10:32 AM

It does look like they did a good design job on this.

I'm looking to buy something that can fit kids, go camping, and tow. This is really close, and seems like a much better value than the new Defender but it only tows 3500lbs... Would that be enough to get a 2000lbs load on a trailer up to the Okanagan?

Teriyaki 07-14-2020 10:41 AM

Can't wait to see all the untanned twanger legs rolling around with their doors popped off

KDMofo 07-14-2020 11:34 AM

As someone who got a Tacoma for the reliability over the Wrangler. I'm curious how the Bronco will compare to the Wrangler. Definitely will consider once my lease is up.

underscore 07-14-2020 12:28 PM

The more I look at this the more I want one. My original plan was to replace my Grand Cherokee with a Frontier since I don't want a big truck and the only offroady SUV is a Wrangler which I don't trust, but it looks like out of the box the Bronco comes with everything you normally have to add with aftermarket stuff. I'd like a front receiver to plop a winch into when I get stuck but other than that it'd be buy it and go.

Buying one used in the spec you want may be tricky though, what with all the optional features and packages. Even down the base model you can option lockers and 35's, which I'd want.

For every hardcore Wrangler that actually makes use of a SFA there's thousands that don't. And likely those few guys will stick to the Wrangler for a while purely because it's familiar.

MarkyMark 07-14-2020 12:47 PM

The good thing is if this is a hit it's going to force other companies to follow suit with their own off road vehicles. I don't know if Toyota will get away with their half assed Pro packages which is basically some different shocks for an extra 10k.

The more videos I watch the more badass this thing looks. I'll be keeping my F150 a few more years but this will be something I'll look into when I'm looking for a new vehicle. Bonus points if it will fit in my garage unlike my F150 lol.

Even the wife loves it and she usually rolls her eyes when I show her new vehicles lol

Same same.

Hondaracer 07-14-2020 02:50 PM

Just watched the videos about the new interior options on the brand new F150 as well, damn..ford bringing the heat with these two

SkinnyPupp 07-14-2020 02:51 PM

Has a new model ever been this universally praised here on RS?

punkwax 07-14-2020 02:52 PM

^ not a model of vehicle no.. but the NSFW forum has fallen off in that respect, recently.

i think it's just a combination of superb retro styling, not some cop-out crossover off a car platform cashing in on a heritage name, modular design (can be good or bad) but mostly pent up demand for an affordable off-roader/fun vehicle

i guess it's also sorta palate cleansing in sucha bleak year so far

i mean these are just spec sheets and pretty brochures so far, i'm trying not to get too hyped until review of production units but so far seems promising

dared3vil0 07-14-2020 06:09 PM

I reserved a Badlands 4 door. Stoked.

Why would you care about reliability on a lease? :derp:

underscore 07-14-2020 06:52 PM
