-have a legit complaint about the Costco pharmacy at the Burnaby Still Creek location. My goodness, some of the staff who work at that location's pharmacy are useless! Talk about incompetence.
-went to that Costco on January 17th to get a Shingrix vaccine shot. My health benefits from work gives me 80 percent coverage.
FYI, a vaccine shot at Costco for shingles is $175 per shot.
-went there in late December to set up an appointment on January 17th.
The new staff who was helping me for the appointment gave me a disclosure form to sign. "Fine, I thought". -filled up the paperwork.
-explained to the staff that my health plan information should be set up in their computer records for my appointment.
The new staff said "yes, sir. I will check your record."
Then the staff scans my membership card and starts the payment process for the shingles vaccine shot.
"Sir, that comes to $175".
I said "What??"
Then I told the guy "I have 80 percent coverage with my health care benefits" "Check your records again!"
New guy does not have any bloody clue what he is doing.
He asks another staff to help him. Props to the staff Byron for sorting out the issue with my health plan information on their record.
It turns out in late December when I went to this Costco to book my appointment, the dumbass bitch who input my health benefit plan number entered the plan number wrong by one digit.
That flip lady even asked me during that appointment set up in late December:
"Sir, did you write down the number 6 in your health plan number?"
"Yes, that is a 6." I wrote down the health plan number for her a second time on a Post-It Note to make sure she reads the health plan number correctly.
According to the staff member Byron, my health plan number was input wrong into their system.
Anyways, that lady almost messed up my health benefits coverage for a shingles shot because she typed in my health plan information wrong into their computer system!!
Thank goodness that Byron fixed their computer record.
I paid the correct amount of $38 for a Shingrix vaccine shot.

How much is exec membership now? Did I even make my monies back?
I don't get much back, these days, but the Exec membership comes with a companion card, which I gave to my son. He doesn't live with me, but they don't know that. Separate card with face ID. He uses his own credit/debit card.
Exec card holders get exclusive sales, but regular members get it at a later date. Not sure if it's worth it, really. I used to shop there a lot, but no more...........

My rebate was about $300. I only use the CIBC card at costco, otherwise I use my TD aeroplan for all other purchases. My goal is to get enough cashback to cover the annual costco membership fee. Everything on top of that is bonus.
I know i said i wont go to costco anymore, but im only human and if i dont go during work hours, that means ill have to ... actually..... ugh just thinking about it makes me wanna throw up...... work
Anyways, try this. its really really REALLY FUCKING GOOD.
The Costco MC is the only card that does restaurant rebate at 3% so that's our eating out card. It's also become our joint card where the kids stuff all go there.

The one and only reason to get the exec card is get the 2% rebate so that it covers all of the cost of the membership, as long as you spend enough.
If you don't spend enough, then don't get the exec card.
Current Exec membership: $130/year
Current normal Costco: $65/year.
Difference is $65/year.
So if you spend more than $65/0.02 = $3,250/year at Costco, then you are basically getting a free upgrade to Executive. Of course you will have to sign up for Executive first, they won't just give it to you just for spending.
If you spend more than $6500/year ($130/0.02), then you are getting a free Costco membership, period, plus any more in additional rebates of 2% above $6500.

Good to know. I don't think between myself and gf we are spending $6500/year... yet. I'll have to try and keep this in mind for when the need arises.

If you log into your Costco account online and go under account details it'll show your estimated 2% reward since your last rebate. The rebate is calculated 3 months before your renewal so if your renewal is March 1, 2026 then the rebate is based on purchases from Dec 1 2024 to Dec 1 20025. They do it 3 months early so they can send you the cheque 2 months before renewal.

Those who are not in GVRD, there are a few things not covered.
Key Exclusions for Executive 2% Reward:
Fuel & Services: Gasoline, tire disposal, oil disposal, and third-party services.
Regulated Items: Tobacco products, cigarettes, and alcohol in specific regions.
Pharmacy & Health: Prescription drugs and eye examinations (in certain locations).
Fees & Deposits: Bottle deposits, shipping fees, membership fees, taxes, and administration fees. Gift Cards: Costco Shop Cards.
I spent the most on gas and liquor and knowing that doesn't get rebates, i didnt' upgrade.
