ICBC writing off cars because of rental costs Just talked to a guy I know that works as a claims adjuster at ICBC. They are writing off some cars because they can't get parts for months and the cost of the rental they have to provide would be too much. What a crazy world we live in. |
I'm still waiting for parts to fix my car, I believe the rental cap is only at $500 when I asked and you only get it if you bought the extra coverage. |
They're probably getting a premium when they sell the written off cars for parts though, so from the business side it probably makes sense. |
Guy I knew had a 2020 Ram Laramie, a lease. The air ride went out on the front, Ram dealer in Alberta had the truck for 6 months waiting for parts. Eventually my friend had to escalate it to Dodge Canada and have a woman there expedite the part which ended up being wrong He had an SRT Durango for 6.5 months until it finally got fixed, dodge covered the rental after a lot of bitching and back and forth |
Very sustainable and environmentally friendly approach. “Ehhh just throw it in the garbage and get a new one” |
