2024 Mercedes C63 AMG Photos here: https://www.caranddriver.com/photos/...ealed-gallery/ https://www.caranddriver.com/mercedes-amg/c63 Hybrid 2-litre 4 banger with 671hp - amazing on paper but feels like this will be the last generation before full EV. |
The boost on this thing |
https://www.whichcar.com.au/news/202...ed-hybrid-four 40psi of boost for those wondering. A K20C1 runs 18.9psi for comparison. |
because mercedes have such great reliability already, why not turn up the boost some more. |
I can't wait to see the horror stories when these run out of warranty. |
is that boost with atmospheric value? Toyota marketing was adding 14.7psi during the gr corolla presser and it confused a few reviewers either way that’s a motherlode of power from a 4-pot |
Sir have you heard of BMW:pokerface::lawl: Quote:

I feel really conflicted with this car because on one hand, power is power and the numbers don't lie -- the car is wicked fast. However, from the videos that I've watched, the engine + exhaust note sounds just like a slightly lower toned turbo 4 engine because a turbo 4 is exactly what it is. Compared to the twin turbo V8 of the past, the level of presence just isn't there. |
I'm more worried about the weight, this thing is more than 4500lbs. |
I think this is the last hurrah for gas, it's the only way they can try to compete with EV. And show up BMW :lawl: |

I don't know about this car... is this the car that the target market wanted? Or is Benz trying to attract a different audience? Gotta give credit to BMW for sticking with an inline-6 and even offering a manual version for the M3/M4... |

That's the thing due to the hippies I don't think they can make the 6.2 v8 anymore. Yes you get a manual BMW but do you want your car to look like ass and not the good kind. :suspicious: |
 make this face almost every time I read one of these posts ^ |
The thing is that AMG V8s will be around until 2030 - but only in flagship models. The new V8 SL63 will have a lifecycle that will go to the end of the decade. https://www.motor1.com/news/609661/m...8-beyond-2030/ "Mercedes-Benz AG announced it will cull its line-up of entry-level vehicles as part of an overhaul of its product strategy as the company refocuses its attention to the luxury segment." "In 2021, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class sales rose 40%, while its AMG and Maybach models also set new sales records. In the first quarter of 2022, Mercedes-Benz sold 10% fewer vehicles yet saw its profit jump 20% compared to the same period a year ago." https://www.thedetroitbureau.com/202...vel-ambitions/ |
Between the current C63S and the M4 (might have been an M4 CS -- not 100% sure), I have to say the Mercedes is also noticeably better when both are driven enthusiastically. I was really quite surprised because up to the E9x M3 at least, the BMWs were always the cars that drove better. But after having driven both the current C63S and some sort of M4, the C63S felt subjectively better in almost every (performance driving-related) aspect. Quote:

Why do some cars max out at like 15 psi and others can easily do 20+ psi ? Is it all based on the turbo size? |
It use to be due to compression ratio. They seem to have figured it out tuning wise now with combinations of injection styles to keep combustion temperatures low, intercooling etc. sky’s the limit. Knock sending, serious timing control and ECU technology is all advancing. |

I watch some vids of this car. All I see is this car zooming around a racetrack. No excitement whatsoever. I see the car but my mind pictures a vacuum cleaner? lol. |

With the new car upping both the power and weight numbers, it is only going to get worse. It is definitely not going to be an ideal track car LOL~ But I am hopeful that Mercedes will give it some very good handling for the amount of weight it has to manage. |
 the electric motors can regen to slow down the car? You basically don't have to use the brakes on EVs, and those must be some decent sized motors to output 200hp |
