Bring A Trailer Help - Buyer Beware Longshot but I'm wondering if anyone here is a member or experienced with BAT who can guide me with something. A few years ago I had my eye on a Viper ACR that needed a lot of help and ultimately the deal fell through because the car was too much of a basket case and the dealer/owner/salesmen were all sleazy as fuck. I wanted to save it but the whole situation made it too far gone. The car: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...e-viper-gts-4/ Now years later I see the car has just sold on BAT and there's no disclosure of the fire the car suffered nor its racing history. From what I can read from the sellers comments I don't think he knew what he bought, it looks like when Willowbrook Chrysler in Langley couldn't sell the car they did a dirty switch n flip. They took out all the racing parts, the supercharger, etc then sold it to an unsuspecting victim in QC. That guy then fixed some things and sold it on BAT and now the new owner is even more in the dark. I have the ICBC records of the fire claim, the owner at the time paid for it personally so the title would stay clean and it didn't have the claim but it was over $11k in damage. I have sent the documentation and photos of its prior condition to BAT and they haven't responded. I created an account on BAT to try and contact the new buyer or even the previous seller and I can't private message. I posted a comment on the auction page and it got removed. Does anyone know how I can pass along this information to these parties so that no one gets ripped off on this car again? Cause this guy just spent $60k USD on what he thinks is a collector car that's been hit, on fire, and shitkicked on the track and he doesn't even know it. https://i.imgur.com/fnHtWdf.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qVhPxVW.jpg |
I don't have any effective suggestions that can help you contact the current seller / buyer, but I'd recommend you to try making the same post in the Grassroots Motorsports forum: https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/ From what I can gather, the GRM forum has quite a wide and deep reach, and the larger pool of forum regulars mean there is a higher chance they might know what can be done on the BAT side of things. It seems pretty shady though how BAT is actively ignoring / censoring your warning messages though. I'm not surprised, but I am disappointed. |
BAT censors plenty of stuff like this. It's a trash website, that has been flooded by sleazy sellers - just like everywhere else. It's eBay now minus any protections. I've tried to post on multiple auctions that have fraudulently reported mileage. They never get posted. Talk about how great the car is and the post is up in seconds. You tried - beyond that, BAT is buyer beware. It's not your responsibility. |
Too late now. Once the auction is over, noone cares about that listing anymore. Happens more often than you think to any purchase/sale, good on you for trying to let them know, but that action closed a month ago |
I would post on some viper forums. |
It's definitely too late for this auction but based on what I can see both the buyer and the seller are victims here. If I was the latest buyer I'd be choked to find this information out but I'd actually want to know the cars true history. It'll answer all kinds of questions for him regarding the mismatched and missing parts. I hate seeing fellow enthusiasts get screwed like this so I'm going to do what I can to track this buyer down. It's definitely not my responsibility but it's the right thing to do. This is a 1 of 72 car that will continue to change hands and be considered collectible in the future. I HATE frauds and thieves so the action of the individual that flipped a fucked up car and knowingly hid a big fire claim, and the auction site not acknowledging that a car was seriously misrepresented on their site and are unwilling to share that information with their client are both fucking disgusting. I assume this was perpetrated by the owner of Willowbrook Chrysler who was the last person I dealt with to try and negotiate a deal with on the car. He was such a vIpEr eNtHuSiAsT.... scumbag POS. Makes me cringe for the GT2 they had sitting in their showroom collecting dust. |
good on your for trying to help. if anything i'd just try to light up Willowbrook with all the information you have, they seem to be the root of the scam |
