Not being facetious, but do you think Toto would have known disqualification was on the table when Russel crossed the line?

I'm curious if it's like that obvious an error that every strategist was aware of or if it was some random fluke and then they're just backtracking now.

OFFICIAL: Red Bull giving up on constructor's championship this year

Hondaracer 07-29-2024 11:34 AM

While Oscar clearly has a great car, I think what he’s showing is what really differentiates young drivers like him VS Seargant etc.

If you can never figure out your own car, you’re likely not long for F1

The Producer 07-29-2024 12:54 PM

i think oscar is there on merit/talent

i think logan is there with quite a bit less of both those things but 'merica

not saying you don't have to be incredibly handy to get to this point, just that if those 2 kids switched cars it would be even more obvious that there is a talent gap

Koflach 07-30-2024 11:20 AM

At this stage, I think Oscar has passed Lando as the top driver at Mclaren.

I'm not sure it's gotten THAT far yet but it sure seems like Oscar is a more complete driver than Lando. Lando is a bit like Charles - very fast (Charles is faster though) but lacks the brain that drivers like Lewis or Fernando have for managing a race. I know people give George shit sometimes but I think he's rounding into a really good driver - there's nothing he's seriously deficient in and being able to go toe to toe with Lewis is no small thing. He's got the speed and the smarts.

Outside of Max and Lewis I'd pin my highest hopes on George, Charles, and Oscar as true championship contenders (now or in the future).

Jack Doohan in the second alpine seat next year!

Good for him always liked him in F1TV

HonestTea 08-23-2024 09:02 AM

Rather have Mick in the Alpine

TypeRNammer 08-24-2024 03:59 PM

Holy shit, Lando absolutely destroyed Max in qualifying.

Hondaracer 08-25-2024 09:34 AM

Boringgggg

The Producer 08-25-2024 01:37 PM

Hondaracer 08-25-2024 02:27 PM

Love that the first thing that Max said to Lando in the cool down room though was “bit of tire spin there?” Or somthing along those lines regarding the start lol

Rumours that Williams might replace Sargeant before the end of this season because of the cost of the damage his crashes are causing, possibly with Mick.

Which is dumb coz that's the reason why Haas let Mick go.

I hope they get Lawson or Kimi into that seat, both of whom are also rumoured to replace Sargeant.

EvoFire 08-27-2024 10:16 AM

^ Sargeant dropped in favour of Franco Colapinto today. I'm not sure what they want to achieve with this because there's no spot for Colapinto next year. It's unlikely Colapinto will perform better than Sargeant. I would have given the seat to Kimi Antonelli but it seems like Mercedes isn't letting him go.

Just saw this now. I think as long as Colapinto doesn't risk binning it every other weekend he will be a better choice financially for Williams.

I just cant believe they couldn't find ANYBODY that is more qualified than an unproven rookie.

EvoFire 08-27-2024 12:06 PM

There was some analysis on this.

Mercedes won't release Antonelli because they want him to finish his F2 season - the reasoning is weak as Antonelli's team is quite weak this year.

RB won't release Lawson because there's a pretty good chance there will be a shuffle before the end of the season.

Doohan is signed for Alpine next year. Theoretically they should want as much seat time as possible, but I'm guessing Alpine or Williams just didn't want to?

I'm guessing it's the same with Bearman as he's signed for Haas next year.

blkgsr 08-27-2024 12:11 PM

ya who the hell is this guy?

team principals keeping their drivers close for some reason...

The Producer 08-27-2024 12:24 PM

it's a promotion from within - the other drivers mentioned above have not come through the Williams academy (Colapinto has, as was Latifi and Sargeant)

This is a good short term PR move for a team that already has it's driver lineup figured for next year.

Hondaracer 08-27-2024 12:50 PM

At this point might as well swap Lawson in for Either Yuki or Danny really lol

HonestTea 08-27-2024 02:23 PM

Who the FUCK is Colapinto.. He must have some pretty generous backing coming with him.
