well, Chicago picked up rights to Canucks legend Sam Lafferty in the Mik trade, and he's still going to free agency.
I don't know why any pending UFA wouldn't go to July 1 just to see what all the competing offers were before making a decision. Unless the team that acquired your rights also happened to be the exact team you wanted to go to, and even then, it'd still make sense to drive up the price with competing offers.

^ except sometimes you go to UFA and you're left without a dance partner for a long time, like a few days, and the possible teams picked someone else and you're left with a team you don't want to dance with. Especially if you're a high priced UFA .. .only a certain number of teams can offer say a $8M or 9M AAV ... always get it done before July 1st. Even if difference is like half mil per season AAV ... peace of mind is worth it, I think.
speaking of, Guentzel hit $9M.

Canucks aren't getting anybody because they're not willing to take any bad contracts that will help short term for only 2-3 years...
So that most likely means they won't do anything given how the asking prices.
It's a wise choice not to have an aging player become a boat anchor in the 2nd half of a contract, but not sure what their play is to improve the team though. Who's left??

Haven't seen this movement or action on Free Agency day in a LONG while.
Stamkos to NSH is pretty big!
Bowman and Coach Q reinstated pretty big ... although not free agency related, they are free agents in the Mgmt world.
