The cylinder heads, for example, get thicker walls in certain intake and exhaust ports, and take advantage of improved machining techniques that allow GR to machine more of the raw casting. This reduces surface irregularities and flow differences from head to head.

The block benefits from improved metallurgy in the form of more durable cast iron, as well as an improved cylinder-honing process and a modified crankshaft-cap structure. GR also added structure to allow the block to be used in transverse-engine vehicles.

I saw this yesterday. I'm kind of scratching my head on this. Funny how Toyota decides to do this while this forum takes a massive shit on their cars.

Production will be limited and you would have to have some deep pockets to get your hands on this. So far, it's not available for sale in North America (yet.)

While not the same, I hope they bring back the 3S-GE/BEAMS 3S-GE/3S-GTE. :D

Badhobz 09-11-2025 07:28 AM

Pretty sweet, but only for vintage operations... they should be ashamed of themselves, looking at the modern-day trash they are putting out in comparison to these legacy hits.

AstulzerRZD 09-11-2025 07:58 AM

booooo it's the 4 valve and not the 5 valve!

GR should just put the fries in the bag

bcrdukes 09-11-2025 07:59 AM

Yeah! Why not the 20v!? :seriously:

bcrdukes 09-11-2025 08:00 AM

BRB, gonna try to order one to swap into my Corolla.

If we're gonna do that, why not go Full InitialD??

Booom, 240hp 11,000rpm let's go!!

EvoFire 09-11-2025 08:45 AM

Seems like they've made some measurable improvements to the engine. I'd imagine the 5v is a lot harder to make and more expensive, and the improvements may have closed the gap?

Hello, Atlantic Spec 4A-GE. :troll:

RabidRat 09-11-2025 09:28 AM

^ In looking that up for the picture, I couldn't believe the amount of debate online over what actually the InitialD engine is, and how upsetting it is that people "spread misinformation".

Holy cow it's a cartoon who cares :lol

trollface 09-11-2025 09:32 AM

The cartoon gave it way more credit than what the car can cash.

Driven a few stock ones, it's a 120hp and change Corolla ppl want 20k for. This wasent some engineering marvel, it WAS a cheap reiable RWD hatch kids could mod.

The one in this pic from Japanese Group A made 220hp but tops out at like 9k rpm

The InitialD motor’s probably inspired by the Formula Atlantic ones that rev high, but drawn like the group A engines so it’s more relatable to Japanese audience.

What part of a teenage tofu delivery fucker who has a minimal trunk space of an ae86 and has to go up and over mountain passes seems realistic to you? The logistics alone would have meant takawara tofu be priced insanely high and given the low volumes delivered, not a feasible business operation. Plus he doesnt have enough HP to run a refrigerator in the corolla so what he drives around with a bucket of tofu encased in tofu water !?!?! the weight alone of that much tofu water would have destroyed his drift. Plus his piece of shit corolla stinks of tofu.

Maybe the car was used purely for advertising and marketing purposes. :troll:

trollface 09-11-2025 10:55 AM

That's a tax write-off right?

JDMDreams 09-11-2025 06:25 PM

You should try driving with a bucket of tofu in the LC Corolla :joy::troll: imagine if you wrapped it in tofu decal rolling up to Holt Renfrew

I have zero use for one of those engines but I still want one because the induction sound is phenomenal.

Badhobz 09-11-2025 09:34 PM

It makes a pretty baller looking coffee table (well…. Flat 4’s and flat 6’s do anyways). This is probably too tall unless you can somehow lean it on its side.

red kryptonite 09-11-2025 10:31 PM

driving the 86 that hard every night, the upkeep and consumables alone can easily bankrupt the fujiwaras

underscore 09-12-2025 07:33 AM

I always figured Bunta had money from racing or his wifes life insurance and the tofu shop is just a sort of hobby.

I think the shop is a front for his illegal racing operations. :D

Badhobz 09-12-2025 08:17 AM

plus he's got some serious parenting issues. buddy neglects the fuck out of... whos the protagonist? timmy? and forces timbo to drive up and down mountain sides while he drinks his ass off and spends times going to soaplands/health calls <--- in japan they deliever whores to your home, its called a health call.

There's also S2000 ITB that are street driveable, release earlier this year

underscore 09-12-2025 11:33 AM

I have not, but I bet they sound excellent.

BBR ITB? My friend has them for his NC, the motor is in the process of being rebuilt and the car should be ready to drive next year.
