If you keep something insured year-round you get the low mileage discount. It's not a huge amount but that + pleasure use has it as cheap as two day permits per month and then you don't have to mess around with going to get it every time or dealing with storage insurance.

I was doing the 1 year and cancel thing for a while, but you can always buy a few months at a time. Last year I bought 7 months, and just let it expire and saved the cancellation fee and trip to the broker.

In the meantime, I brought home this disaster on Friday,

Immediately started tearing it apart and "decontaminating" it from years of sitting

Yeah, that's generally what I do too. The low use discount helps, but a 10% discount is 36days. So if you don't drive it from Nov to Feb it's not worth having it insured even to get that discount.

edit: DannyDC2 on the youtubes did a great season at the Nurburgring with his MR2. His goal was a budget build MR2 to get under 8min bridge to gantry on a TF. It was a good series with him showing the work he did on the car, and the results of that work on the track. Good chill stream.

Oooo how much did you get that for. They are about $10 but most are JDM + auto. I was interested until I saw the frunk size. Even a Honda beat has more storage. Xrs swap?

And no, the track isn't incredibly hard on the brakes because it's super tight, it's because at the end of the drag strip is Turn 1, where you do a 180. Then back straight for T3 is another 180 ish lol. Unlike what most people believe about the walls at Mission... it's a factor, but walls don't move.
I have been good so far, some life changes so I sold the Camaro. I still have 8 cylinders... Just across two cars. Honestly, I like the Miata a bit more driving around the town. You can flog it without getting in trouble and pretty much everything on it costs half vs. the Camaro. Especially gas.

I have never been to the Mission track so I dunno, it's been a while since I have talked to people about that track.

It's shiny for like a week and then it's dusty AF. That's the problem with black cars. And I have two black cars.

Your RF is white so I would think it's a bit better? And RFs do look nice with the top up.

They add an extra fee for short term insurance so per month it usually ends up costing more. Like if a year costs $1200 then they'll charge something like $700 for 6 months.

What're your plans for it? I'd love to build an MR-S someday, they're one of my favourite cars to drive.
