the one i was going to sign up for is a course with a test.
i was told you don't need to show up for the course, though and just need to take the test at the end of the course.

A+ consist of 2 test. A core exam and an OS exam. They are around $145 USD each. No course is needed like almost any of these industry certifications.

These certs are a waste of time. I hold 4 different certifications and couldn't find work for 18 months about 2 years ago and I had 4 years of experience at the time. Bad industry to be in and get into right now. I'm just waiting to get laid off so I can go back to school and learn something else.
FYI, the A+ isn't one of the certs I currently hold. I was going to take it but after looking at the study material, I decided not to. It's basically certifying that you have the computer knowledge of a 15 year old. Yeah, the test is that easy... If I was an employer, I wouldn't even look at that unless it's for an $8/hour computer repair man.

yea...A+ is pretty useless...lol...it's pretty easy to get.
apparently all FS technicians are a+ certified
I was looking at the one @ BCIT (work was paying for it, so price didn't matter to me)

5x60=300
300/80=3.75
3.75 seconds per question not bad |

5 minutes to finish?!?!??!?!?! | The exam is now......ah........i forget the word for it.
It's like this, if you answer a question correctly, the next question will be harder and if you keep answering them correctly, you will get less questions. So if you get nothing wrong then it will be a short test. However if you do answer questions incorrectly, it will ask you more questions and the test will be longer.
I believe they implemented this in 2002.

I've taken MCSE, A+, CCNA, and a bunch of various other garbage certification courses. I went through the testing after challenging the A+ exam, and became A+ certified. What a waste of $250. I've taken the Win2k and Win2k Server MCP Exams, but only passed the Win2k Pro test. If anyone else here has taken the MCP / SE tests, they'd understand why they're so damn annoying. Way too many "what if" situations and trick questions.
One of these days I'll finish my MCSE cert. It's not really worth much these days anyway.
If you want a certification to have, go write the Sun SL275 (Certified Java Programmer) and the CCNA/CCNP, both are some of the hardest out there for midrange techs and non-programmers.

It's lame. I was looking at taking this 4 years ago, the stuff was easy as hell.

The course was offered for free at my work, so I took it. I had more fun socializing and correcting the teacher than anything else. I didn't end up taking the test though.
