The team I played for were pretty much all newbies, including me... managed to finish 6th out of 8 teams in the rec league. :p

my team is prolly the shortest in the league!

we have one guy that's 6 feet. every other guy is roughly my height -- 5'8.

Tell me about it. We didn't even have a team member that's six feet. Our tallest regular is probably like 5'10". I'm only like 5'4.5" so I need to make up for that with quickness... but if the frisbee is in the air and up for grabs, it's pretty damn hard getting it from a six footer.

in all my years of playing, i think there's only been like 1 team that has ever been as short as my team. every now and then we get a 6+ footer to play a game or two, but yeah, anytime anyone throws a hospital pass, our team doesn't even bother trying.

nah i think we played you THIS year. and lost to you guys... :p we have a lot of new ppl on our team this year, myself included.

speaking of height... we have several tall guys, but one of them is 6'2 or 6'3 but can jump above anyone else and has a huge wingspan so he can get the disc at any height!! he is amazing.

i always wanna throw. i need to keep practicing... the winter break didn't do any good for my throws or my cardio. :(

my summer team's going to have all new girls. :( we're going to get pwned. girls are the make/break. if you have good talented girls on the team, it's like a whole different game altogether.

it's hard to get girls to play. our girls on my team always have to play the whole game without subs because hardly any of the 7 girls we have show up. lamers. :(

fuck. we lost. 10-9. we only had one good girl today. the other two were um... less inclined to run, shall we say. and it was super windy but we got a few upwind points.

they got three straight point till we got ourselves organized. finally got one on a long huck. traded points back and forth. spectactular cutting by moi. :p skyed some tall guy for one point. :D finally tied the game and then got the lead. but then they came back with two successive points to win. sigh.

so windy today too. spencer fields has to be the windiest place eVar.

aw crap. too bad! i actually like windy fields. when we first started playing -- we entered a tournament. the wind was the all-great-equalizer vs an uber overpowered squad. it was great. we only lost by 1 point when in reality, we should've been owned 13-0.

our women have always been not bad. we've had the same core 3-5 women on my team since we started. even though they aren't the most athletic, or most talented, they ARE experienced. so we usually steal quite a few points by just using them and them alone!

yeah, usually. we've done that before when our girls were more talented. my g/f was in kingston, ont. today cuz of a med school interview. we could have used her. i love doing all girl points. it's so rare that when you do it, the opposition's guys are all just caught flatfooted (esp. when they play man).

skill-wise, that team and ours was pretty even ('cept the girls of course).... but yeah, the wind did help us from time to time. but it also got us back. lots of missed catches, etc.

Games? I can't commit myself until after 1630 on Tuesdays. Plus I wouldn't be much help to your team anyways (I suck.....bad). Just enjoy tossing the disc around and occasionally the friendly scrim at the park. Casual, not competetive.

I was there yesterday morning for a practice with my Tuesday team. Actually, my Thursday team is going there to practice at 4 pm today too, so I'll try to show up a little early to say hi to you guys. Or feel free to stick around for a scrimmage. :)

Oh, I have one "in tow" as well. She's 20 mths old now, this one is about 19 wks along. But yes, ultimate will be amongst one of the things they will learn :D

In any case, we haven't really scheduled practices and I'm not quite sure if we're having a practice next week since the seasons starts then and a lot of people on the team (not the RSers, of course) aren't too keen on practices.

But hey, I'm sure ghetto fobulous, carisear, scheng, absolutezero, myself would be up to having a mini-RS ulti meet at a convenient field somewhere anytime. :)

:lol we'll see. i personally like that we're playing in Div.5. it makes the learning curve much steeper for the people on our team and also doesn't make the more experienced people slack off. i wouldn't mind staying in Div.5. but i guess we'll see how we do. if we have a losing record in the first trimester, we'll get bumped down anyway.

yeah, we are currently 1-1.

first game was not bad but we could have played better. stepped it up and then beat them.

second team played was a much tougher and skilled team (giant gap between the first and second teams)... and yet we came (sorta) close to evening up the score.

good games. i think we should stay in div.5 just so that we improve as a team. if we keep playing teams like the first team, it'll be harder for us to improve.

it was a good practice as we hooked up with another team on the field practicing at the same time. rans a few drill and had a scrimmage. all in all a good time.

oh and just a heads up for all those not on the team, we're probably going to stay in the VUL for the fall and perhaps even set up a secondary l337 revscene.net team to play in a higher division... like division three. recruitment will start later this season but just a heads up.

I was actually in the area yesterday, but only had a half hour to burn, so I dropped by just to chill at the park. Didn't see any team of red... think only two people wore red, but since there was only one group playing ultimate, I'm assuming that was you guys. Very multi-cultural mix of players?

Our Tuesday girls are real troopers, they've played with no subs a couple of times. But having subs and fresh legs is important since often it's the girls that make the difference in a game between closely-matched teams.

Hope it works out for you! If not, get Carisear to wear a wig and dress. He still owes me for the whooping we gave him a few Thursdays ago. ;)

good effort today. OH SNAP! starts the second trimester with a 1-1-0 record. hard fought win in the first game 13-11. lost to a not-so-spirited team (which in turn lowered our spirit) in the second game.

yay to the captain for getting girls out today.

Do you guys know where I can find an ultimate team to join? I am only able to play sat and sun, I can throw but am a beginner to the game.

Hmmm... right now the VUL has games on weeknights (usually from 6-9pm). But in the fall, the games will be back to weekends. You can join a team then. Only the "hardcore" players play then. :) I say hardcore because it's colder and Ultimate hurts more in the cold and wet.

We have enough men on our team right now but you're welcome to our practices... we're having one this Saturday (June 10th) at 2/3pm till whenever at Winona... come out and see what it's like.

It's always good to welcome noobs into the fold.
