This is a bit of a long shot for RS but I'll put myself up.

I'm graduating from UVic this spring with a BA in History and a Political Science minor. I've had extensive experience in retail/customer service in the private sector as well as service in the public sector with the Government of Alberta. I also have a lot of experience in Canadian federal politics, particulairly in the areas of policy research and creation as well as organization and leadership.

Really, I'm looking for just about anything in an office setting aside from being a secretary or really low-level clerical work (did that in Alberta, easy but not rewarding at all). Research assistants, communications, policy analysis, that's the kind of thing I'm looking for but really I'll take just about anything that's not Starbucks right now. If you have a lead on something of this kind please post it up or send me a PM.

Villages Pizza is desperately looking for delivery drivers. It's a pretty easy job and the tips can easily double your hourly wage income. Wages start at $8.00/hr and increase regulairly after that and drivers get to keep all their tips, less 10% for kitchen tip-out, and $1/delivery to pay for gas. Also, you get kitchen experience as a prep chef and doing other miscelaneous kitchen duties. All you need is your own car, a reletivly clean driver's record (right now we're not all that picky), and the drive to join a fun and youthful team and make some easy cash.

If you're looking for a first job, secondary job, or just a good way to make some extra cash during the summer contact Codie (Store Manager) at the Cook, Cloverdale, Quadra Villages at 389-0027 or drop by with a copy of your resume and a driver's abstract.

McLaren Lighting is looking for a Full-Time warehouse person to work as a Receiver/Shipper etc- WILL TRAIN. Needed ASAP.

We are a busy Lighting Showroom that does retail and commercial sales. I am looking for someone who is motivated and organized- warehouse/receiving experience isn't necessary as long as you are willing to help, learn and be part of the team. A positive attitude is a must. It is a fun environment to work in and a great company to work for- but we don't want to be constantly investing time in reminding people they are there to work- be a self starter.

We can receive anywhere from 10-50 pallets of lighting fixtures a week, and need someone who can accurately sort and receive stock shipments, fill customer orders, ship interbranch stock orders to our Nanaimo store and put away stock.

Other duties can include lighting fixture assembly for showroom display, warehouse cleaning/re-organization. You might be required to make deliveries in the company van, so a driver's license is required. A bit of mechanical aptitude is a big benefit. Our warehouse has two floors, so there is a lot of carrying boxes up and down stairs.

The job pays salary with a good benefits package after 3 months. It is a 8:30am-5:00pm shift that includes working Saturdays. We are closed Sundays so you get Sundays and a day during the week off.

Although it is a warehouse position our company is primarily a retail location so shirts are supplied and you are expected to look presentable while working. If you are interested in dropping off a resume, come in looking like you are applying for a job at a retail location- not like you just came from the gym. (Business Casual)- You'd be suprised how many people drop off resumes in ripped shorts, dirty t-shirts and running shoes and a hat. Presentation goes a long way.

The location is 3400 Douglas Street. We are closed Sundays, but are open Monday morning at 8:30am. PLEASE BRING A DRIVER'S ABSTRACT. There is currently an ad in the Times Colonist with instructions to bring it.

We'll be accepting applications all week. Please ask for Warren when you come in. Hope to see some of you!

Hiring: All Canadian Pizza (soon to be Kili's Pizzeria)

For those that don't know, the pizza place is right on the corner of Pandora and Cook, we do by the slice as well as regular take out/delivery. We've got a new menu coming up soon with some really great pizzas and good deals. It's a family business, my parents and I own and operate it.

Ideally we want to have someone who can deliver as well as work behind the counter. It'll be $8/hr plus $0.50/delivery for someone new, $9/hr plus $0.50/delivery for someone with experience. This isn't a dead end, as we do better and you stick with us you'll be paid more. I've been stuck in shitty paying shitty jobs before and I wouldn't ever wish it on anyone, so that's not how it'll be here. Sure you can get a little more per delivery elsewhere, but you'll be delivering a lot farther, and chances are you won't get any raises.

So, a [reliable] car isn't a must, but it's definitely very high on the asset list. Experience is also an asset. Foodsafe is a must, if you don't have it, you'd have to get it. It's an inexpensive, short, and extremely easy course.

This would be evening work, with the possibility of moving to a daytime shift as things get going (we'll be opening as early as 11am on weekdays once our new menu comes out). Weekend availability is also a must. I wouldn't expect anyone to give up every weekend, so we can certainly work something out like working every 2nd weekend, but less than that won't fly.

A great deal of housing surrounds the pizza place, so the majority of the deliveries so far have been to the surrounding area, and we'll soon be distributing several thousand flyers also only to the immediate area, so deliveries will be quick and wear on the car will be minimal (I've actually walked a few of the deliveries because they're so close).

So to sum up, the duties include:
-Serving people at the counter
-Taking orders over the phone
-Making pizza
-Cleaning (pizza trays, floors, etc)
-Delivering pizzas

We're not looking for a workmonkey, everything you'd be doing we already are, and will still be doing, including cleaning and any other unsavoury job that comes along.

If you're interested reply here, find me on msn, aronnimani (at) hotmail.com, or come on by the pizza place anytime in the afternoon/evening and ask for me, Aron. I''ll be there all day every day this week but Wednesday.

Pacific Mazda (Victoria) has 2 openings, one for a full time lot attendant and another for a service wash person.

In the wash job you basically wash cars and park them, help out with random things in the shop.

Lot attendant entails merchandising cars; setting them up in lines, displays, moving stock around the lot, picking up new car deliveries from sannich, booking in new cars off the truck. Also detailing sold cars which will be sent out to customers, pumping gas for them .

Both jobs I believe are 9.50 to start. If anyone is interested in these please send me a PM. Clean drivers abstract is preferred. Also if your decent at parking (very little parallel parking, mostly backing vehicles in) thats a big plus.

I dunno if anyone would be interested, but I'm moving to Kamloops in September and had to quit my job at Hertz at the victoria airport washing cars. A coworker is leaving the same time as me so I guess they'll be looking to fill 2 positions. Um, ya, it's $10/hr to start with benefits and raises after 3 months. It's full time and you have to have your class 5. It's pretty easy and apparently it gets slow in the winter so it should be pretty laid back. Basically you pick up cars from the airport, take em to the service station, wash them, and take them back. Occasionally you get to take trips to vic to the dealers or whatever. It's under cover too so you wont be in the rain in the winter, unless it's really busy maybe. I also think they're looking for a part-time tripper (driver) starts at $10/hr, no benefits, and if you do clean you get $11/hr. Um, I guess anyone interested can pm me with questions. Yup..

We're hiring at Kili's Pizzeria. We need someone friendly and outgoing to work lunch, which is 11:00AM - 2:30PM. We also need either that same person, or someone else to work 4:00PM - 6:30PM

No driving is necessary (for those of you that don't want a delivery job), since we don't deliver at lunch, but for the 4pm shift having a car for deliveries is an asset. Responsibilities include: Taking orders in person and on the phone, making pizza, pasta, salads, etc. cleaning (mostly dishes, unless you spill something).

Wage is $8/hr ($9/hr with experience) to start, with 50c/delivery if applicable. Review for a raise in a maximum of 3 months.

It's an easy job even when it's busy, and a good working atmosphere. We're all car people there, specifically we're all VW people, gracefallen from RS, to name one, so a car enthusiast will fit in just fine.

Feel free to contact me on the forums or on msn (aronnimani@hotmail.com) if you have any questions, but applicants must come in person to Kili's Pizzeria at 1515 Cook (corner of Cook and Pandora, next to Macs) during working hours after 4PM. If you don't speak to me beforehand, phone ahead to make sure I'm there, 380-4011.

FYI: The new sign is on its way, so above the store still says "All Canadian." There is, however, only the one pizzeria in that plaza.

Need someone at Kili's Pizzeria with foodsafe, a drivers license, and a reliable car.

You're not being hired as a delivery driver, but you will have to take some deliveries. You're being hired as an everything person, just like the rest of us, haha. This includes delivering pizzas, making pizzas, cleaning stuff, dealing with customers, answering the phone, etc.

Pay is $9/hr + 50c/delivery. Hours are flexible, but there will be weekend work involved. We go on a more or less rotating weekend schedule so nobody has to work every weekend, and everyone gets complete weekends off.

Drop off a resume at Kili's Pizzeria on the corner of Pandora and Cook, right between Macs and the Movie Gallery. If I'm there (Aron), you can just talk to me right away, if not, I'll give you a call. You can also email me the resume or find me on msn, both aronnimani (at) hotmail.com

Need someone asap.

Villages Pizza at Cook-Quadra-Cloverdale is hiring for all positions: Cooks, Drivers, and Phone/Counter Persons.

We're a fun and friendly workplace that offers competitive wages with frequent chances for raises, flexible hours (great for students), and perks like complementary gym memberships and, of course, free pizza. No experience is required - Food Safe a plus - on the job training and uniforms provided.

If you're thinking of applying as a driver it's a good idea to bring in a copy of your Driver's Abstract (you can request one for free from any ICBC Driver's Centre) along with a current resume. Being a driver you have the chance to earn the most cash as you get to keep 90% of your tips and receive a $1/delivery commission to cover gas costs; you drive your own car. Winter is our busy season and everyone loves hot pizza delivered to their door for Hockey Night in Canada.

If you're interested in applying, drop by the shop any time with a resume and we'll slot you in for a face-to-face interview within the next day or two. If you want more info PM me or ask for Chris in the store. I'm the Driver's Supervisor so I'm the guy to talk to about driving jobs and for Cook/Phone personnel ask for Codie, Jeff, Dave, or Randy.

thrifty foods at the shelbourne/mckenzie location has just finished off all their postings for the department managers positions so will likely start hiring staff before too long, thrifty's has been good to me about accomodating my schedule (i've got 5 weekends in a row off for trips, along with my student schedule messing up alot of weekday shifts)
Sorry, forgot to mention that I'll be looking for work in the Victoria area. I've been doing grocery work for the last few years so i'm kind of looking for other types of jobs but i'll definitely look into this as an option, thanks.

Thought I'd post up again, since we're hiring...again :P

Loss Prevention / Uniform Security

Must have clean-ish Criminal Record, as you must apply for a security license. BST 1 and 2 would be nice, but my company will train you and set you up for it. Basically, we "shop" in stores, plainclothes, and arrest people who steal. We do grocery stores, clothing stores, you name it.

If you are interested, email
tony@fbig.ca
with a resume.

Hours are very flexible, we make ~$11/hr, give or take, neg. No commission on arrests, or quotas.

I'll post here too, my current bio:

currently I work semi-full time at an internet firm, contracting out www.driving.ca, I am the used car rep for the island, it's only.. 3 days a week. I am looking for something part time to fill those 4 days where I don't work (Friday-Tuesday) and then I would be looking for something after i finish work in the early afternoon. Also looking for night-time work and I can work weekends.

mainly looking for a car dealership to wash some cars at, or else I would like something that would keep me occupied with hands on work. My job is a lot of sitting and computer work, so I have a lot of unspent energy, about a years worth, to make up at a new job.

I'm also looking for a night time job at a restuarant in or around the downtown core, I have 8 months serving experience at a small 30 table establishment. I also would like weekend work, right now I'm not in school so I have a lot of spare time over the weekend and I usually just end up spending money as a past-time :p

Hertz Rental Car at the Victoria Airport needs a full-time Vehicle Service Attendant. I believe starting is now $12/hr. We'll be moving to the new service center soon, which is actually at the terminal, so does eliminate some of the driving but is a brand new facility. The job is basically washing cars, moving them around, ocassionally taking them in for service... stuff.

Just a class 5, relatively clean abstract. No experience req. Managers name is Wendy. Shift will be either 7:00-3:30, 10:00-6:30, 12-8:30... with the possible ocassional 8:00-4:30. And you will most likely have to work weekends, but you do get 2 days in a row off and the schedule is usually consistent. They are looking like right now cause someone just quit with 3 days notice and their last day was Friday. Um, ya.. I did this for 3 months last summer, left for school, this summer I came back for this job but I'm actually doing this and filling in at the counter, so if you wanna know anything else just ask.

^We had a record day by a HUGE margin on Canada Day, but we didn't have the place last Canada Day, so I can't really compare.

Kili's Pizzeria needs a pizza cook or two ASAP. Pay varies depending on experience. Food experience of any kind is an asset, -can you remove stuff from a hot oven without burning yourself? Do you know which end of a knife to hold? That's more experienced than some that have applied- but not necessary.

Talk to me directly (either on here or msn aronnimani at hotmail.com) or come in with a resume anytime after 4pm, any day of the week (I'm generally always around, but guaranteed there Wednesday-Friday all night).
We're right on the corner of Pandora and Cook, between the Mac's and the Movie Gallery - 380-4011.

We do need to hire right away, and you do need to be available until the beginning of September.

I need one, maybe two part time drivers at the pizza place, gotta be someone reliable with a reliable car, personable, and hard working.
Responsibilities:
-Delivering pizza in a timely manner
-Dealing with customers up front
-Dealing with customers over the phone (very basic calculator-aided math will be required for pricing orders)
-Washing stuff

The job is simple, so I expect it done to perfection. On call is an option if you're within 10min driving distance (during rush hour).

Hours are generally flexible, we open daily at 4pm and I do need at least one weekend day (Friday or Saturday) covered to 330am (your shift won't be more than 8 hours).

Edit, forgot pay: $8/hr cash (sort of) plus $1/delivery and you keep all your tips.

I can't guarantee a particular amount of hours per week at the moment, so this job is ideal for someone who is looking for an extra cash flow.

If you're interested, give me a call anytime, 858-5858 (name's Aron), find me on msn, aronnimani at hotmail.com, or come by the pizzeria anytime this week other than Tuesday/Wednesday.

Need a part time cook or two at the pizza place (Kili's Pizzeria), gotta cook, clean, deal with customers. Pretty simple job, enough downtime in a given day, and lots of fattening food!

Pay is $9/hr to start plus in-store tips. We've got some expansion plans starting a week from now, at which point more hours will be available, and pay increases will be more frequent.

No experience, just common sense and a willingness to work. (Though if you can tell a cutting board from your big toe, you're already in better shape than some)
What is common sense, you ask? Here are two practical examples:
-Do not stick your arm in the mixing bowl while the mixer is turned on.
-If you are the only person in the store and have to go to the bathroom, hold it until someone else gets back or at the very least lock the door, don't leave the front completely unattended.
Simple enough? We think so.

Come in anytime after 4pm, any day of the week (other than this Wednesday), 1515 Cook St. -- Corner of Pandora and Cook.

Or talk to me on msn: aronnimani at hotmail.com. Or phone 858-5858.

I, too, am looking for work, and wondering if anyone has any leads in the auto industry. I'm back from Uni for the summer, so I'm after something temporary that will pay $12+. I've got loads of experience in retail, including auto parts and management, but I'm not sure how well that would transfer over...

I'm guessing BMW filled that parts position...?

Anyway, if anyone has any leads on automotive jobs with decent pay, please let me know. Or if anyone knows of a good senior position in retail, I'm game for that, too.

it's an office downtown, the pay is decent, and you get a butt load of freedom, and as long as the job gets done in the day it should be, you can make your own hours (except on tuesdays and wednesdays)

the job is 3-4 days a week, depending on your speed / age / experience / noobishness handling networking and computerized databases.

hit me up if your interested, I will give you the full details, if you can attach a resume all the better. if not, pm me and I will give you my email for resumes!

I posted in the regular forum, but i see their is a sticky for it. Anyone have part time work this summer, or know of anything available in Victoria.

are you kidding? There is a so many jobs in this city there is no reason to even ask a wide open question like that unless you have something specific you might be interested in.

I'm a full time student at Camosun (pretty busy) but I'm looking at picking up some extra coin for rent money. I have Friday evening, Saturday & Sunday available just about every week. We might be able to negotiate one evening during the week. Here's a list of the various things I have done professionally, any one would work:

- Car/home AV installs
- automotive detailing
- DJ work
- Certified mechanical engineering technologist: 2D, 3D CAD work, mostly plant piping but also estimating, containment vessels, field operations and power plant design; AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks, and Smartplant 3D.

Ideally I'd just like to do head units and alarm installs on the weekends, or shine up a couple of cars (no rotary experience, but lots of polishing with DAs).

I also own and operate a mobile DJ company, KG-DJ. The problem is, I don't have my truck out here (it's back home in Edmonton) so getting gear is a problem. If there are any mobile DJ guys here that is looking for an experienced wedding/corporate/party jock, and can help me on the setup front, then I'm all over that. I have my own console and music (laptop, mixer, DMX board) so I'm set that way.

If anyone is interested or can help me out with this super tight schedule, my e-mail is kyle@kg-dj.com.

Im in the market for a little evening work to make a couple hundred extra bucks/month. Thinking a nice short shift kitchen thing, or delivery driving in the royal oak area. depending on the kind of job i might be willing to commute a little into town or to langford, but i work at 7am monday to friday so 5-10 those days is the most i can offer.

Saturday is all good.

Just casually looking right now, since my car goes in for body shop work next week and i wont be able to get around much. bus = fail in victoria.

Looking to hire a painter and a helper for work at the new RJH expansion

Mon-Fri, 7am - 3:30. Must have own hard hat and boots

This work will be until at least August, but after that no more jobs have been scheduled in Victoria, so do not expect a permanent job.

Painter: Minimum 3 years experience, must have your own hand tools, experience in institutional work/work inspected by MPDA a plus. Job duties will be cutting + rolling walls and painting door frames. Simple scope of work

Starting wage: $16/hr minimum for first day, negotiable after that if you can amaze me.

And sorry to say, but if you've painted your house, that doesn't make you a painter.

Helper: No experience needed, must be able to lift 50lbs bucket of paint, lots of sanding, patching, caulking, so a minimum amount of fitness, although for a trades job it's pretty easy.

Starting wage: $11/hr

Payday every two weeks, legit company, so no, we don't pay cash.

For contact, either PM me here or call me 250-891-2050

Need fill in DJ

I DJ at a pub every Friday and Saturday in Nanaimo from 9:30PM to 1:30AM. Some nights I am not available so I need someone to fill in for me. The music played is 80's 90's and current top 40 and you must take requests. You must have your own mixing equipment (sound system is provided). The booth is small so there is no room for turntables I use a Torq Xponent Midi controller with laptop but there might be enough room for a pair of CDJ's and a mixer. This would be great gig for a bedroom DJ. PM me if you're interested with a list of equipment you have.
