it pays to be at the beach before the hoards of people show up.

the first 4 shots are my buddy, he's only been skimboarding a grand total of 4 hours.....i always tend to de-virginize the skimboarders out there now.

the last 4 shots are me.....meh, i've been doing it long enough ;)

Haha, yeah I'm surprised there isn't many people posting. Skimboarding is actually pretty fun. Takes awhile to pick up at first but every slip and fall is worth it.

Yeah i have yet to try it. although i picked up a skimboard so i'm going to give it a try this weekend, hopefully the tide is low when i'm out there.

So how do you do it. from what i've seen just run, throw the board down and jump on it and take it from there. any tips you can give me

run, DROP, slide.

dont throw, dont run and throw, you will over run and chances are you will over slide the area you wanna rock

its really not as simple to pick up like snowboarding.

but keep in mind the best places to skim are always in water that barely covers your feet.

this is a good site for a general idea of when the tides are high and low

I havent been skimming once this year, or last sadly :( August is looking good for tides this year though so I'm hoping to hit it up on a weekend (working weekdays).

Skimming is good fun, although I don't skim much now that I've moved to the Okanagan.

where do you get the wax for it? Is there any place other than the couple places in the west end?
