I am not especially familiar w/the Breguet model u want, but I would definitely recommend buying a Breguet, esp. over a Chopard or an IWC. Chopard is known for the aesthetics but as far as a watch house, they are not the best quality you can find. IWC are far better, but still very much below Breguet.
Breguet are one of the few houses that make their own workings, (this might not be importatnt to you , though), but you are guaranteed to get a far more accurate watch over one using ETA internals (ETA being the main manufacturer in Switzerland of internals... can be found in most automatic watches, either in original condition, or modified by that particualr watchmaker).

i prefer watches that use the valjoux mechanism, specifically the 7750 chrono. Right now I'm wearing a seiko diver.
i have those pokemon watches where you buy it at th enight market? 10 for 1.. 18 for 2?

You're correct, the Chopard and IWC use ETA movements. The IWC big pilot's watch uses their own movt, and it's a very cool watch, but it's a little too chunky for my wrist and is about the same price as the Breguet. The Breguet is nice, but it's about twice the price of the Chopard/IWC pictured, and when I think Breguet, I'm thinking of their dress watches with the classic blue hands rather than a chrono.
A good friend of mine just got a Panerai and that's a really nice watch too.

I myself find Panerai a little overrated. Have you thought about buying a Zenith, personally i think they have some nice Chrono's. Get a Hublot BIG BANG those are pimp but a little more modern looking.

To tell you the truth, i would be hesitant to believe that IWC made the entire movement. If you read a lot of forums you learn that in order for a movement to be made 'in-house' it means that it has been modified drastically. In the IWC case, I BELIEVE (not sure at all) that they use their proprietary winding system (Pellaton or something), which basically just elevates the winding rotor using a spring which acts like a shock absorber....!
That being said IWC are great watches, and who really cares where the movements are made if they are basically rebuilt in house? Some watch nuts, but not I.
If you are planning on buying a really great watch i'd take a look at Ulysee Nardin watches. I have just orders a Maxi-Marine Chronograph and am really excited to get it...!

Whoops, I meant that list to be a question not a statement. I figure it would be cheapest in Asia but authenticity will be a concern. And if one were to acquire the timepiece from an AD, would they offer much discount?

I agree if it's the for some company, usually a fashion label, charging a ridiculous amount of money for a watch with a generic quartz movement. But disagree if it's a 'sin' to charge $100+ for a high end quartz. Let's use Citizen as an example.
The nicer Citizens are well above $100. Their 2100 movement is partially hand assembled due to its complexity. The Citizen model, sadly not available in North America, is around the $1000 mark. While many would gasp at the price for this subtle looking Citizen, it's one of the world's most accurate quartz movement at +/- 1s per year. It's so accurate that owners notices when the atomic clock adjusts for a leap second. Lastly, Citizen's Campanola (http://citizen.jp/campanola/index.html) line, well above the $1000 mark, are handmade and the attention to detail and artistic quality is absolutely incredible. If you hang out on WatchZone.com, there's a collector of Campanolas, and believe it or not, who prefers them over his PPs and APs.

I was just using an exxaggerated number, but the point was I see people wear marc jacobs watches all the time, or aquamasters with tons and tons of diamonds, and I could not see my self using a watch with a quartz movement for that much money (+4 grand)

Campanola's are awesome. Did you know the enamel on the dial is actually hand-applied by one man... he is the only man in the world still finishing dials in this way.... incredible.

You should be able to use your fingernail. Chances are its synthetic sapphire so it's pretty hard to scratch. You can probably even take a razor blade to it if you want provided it IS synth sapphire. But a fingernail and zippo fluid to get rid of the gunk should be enough.

I don't know too much about watches...so I'm looking for some opinions and advice on this one:
http://www.citizenwatch.com/COC/English/detail.asp?Country=COC&Language=English&ModelNumber=BJ7005-59E
What do you guys have to say?
Edit: This watch is also available in an "atomic" version. I don't get how a regular quartz vs an atomic can still have a plus/minus of 15secs a month? I'm totally new to this watch thing. Educate me, or just give me advice on the Nighthawk. (The face is mineral glass not saphire, WTF?!)

Nice! 10-days fiddy case is awesome. I want a fiddy case so bad since I tried one on.
I ordered from the Panerai Boutique in Beverly Hills. You get better US pricing, free straps and goodies, and free shipping to Canada. So you end up saving a lot (even w/ duty and taxes). I got my 240 from Palladio and it felt like I was being "Future Shopped". But the Boutique experience was amazing...emailed them, they follow up, and 1 day later, a Pearwood box arrives at your door! :)
With the wait, I'm now tempted to consider a Big Pilot or an AP ROO Rubberclad. DAMN THE ADDICTION FOR I AM WEAK!!!!!

oh btw are there any good places to get straps around here?
im actually glad i went 233. i should have just decided on that one back then. maybe i wouldnt be waiting so long. the more i look at the 270 the more the number 9 on the face bugs me. kind of wrecks the balance on the watch and makes that left side all cluttered. also the 10 day fang will rarely move if u wear it often. i just hope manual winding every week or so does not become annoying hehe.

Tourneau, specific brand boutique stores, etc. They're not "online" per se but you can order and have the watch sent to you. I ordered one of my Panerai from the Panerai Beverly Hills Boutique store and my IWC and Ulysse Nardin from Roman Times in Caesar's Palace. Both stores shipped without issues.

WRT straps, I ordered from the vendors mentioned in Paneristi.com. Got a couple from Strap Culture (HK) and one from Greg Stevens Design. Need to get a Simona blue gator and a Gregoire ammo (w/ that cool anchor buckle).
That 233 is so tempting...but currently, I'm really going nuts for one of these:
- Breguet Reveil du Tsar
- AP Royal Oak Offshore (whiteface rubberclad or Alinghi or Shaq)
- Ulysse Nardin Sonata.
So many nice timepieces...so little $$$. LOL.

Agree 100%. But no diamonds regardless. And gold is for casual, silver/platinum for formal evenings.
Of course a true gentleman must learn how to tie a bow tie:
http://imperialhotelmanagementcollegestudent.blogspot.com/2008/02/business-attire-etiquette-how-to-tie.html
And must learn how to do the tie dimple:
http://imperialhotelmanagementcollegestudent.blogspot.com/2008/02/proper-way-of-tying-tie.html
The colour of the watch leather strap must match with the colour of the belt and the shoes.
Regarding watches when matching with ones outfit, remember:
1. Leather strap watches are more formal.
2. The thinner the watch, the more formal, vice versa.
3. Sports watches and suits don't match.

I would have gone with the Tag Carrera Chronograph...locally that watch MSRP at around $3200 or so...But you can easily pick one of these up second hand mint and like new in box for a SIGNIFCANT discount as Tags do not really hold their value well... I've come across this piece in the second hand market anywhere from $1500-$1700...a SMOKING price for such a nice piece for sure...

what i would do is get a leather strap from ebay that is a deploying one and then swap if you want. Thats what i did. The strap cost me $32 bux, but it uses the same deploy system as my metal bracelet one. I swap between them if i really feel like it.
well didnt end up getting the TAG as the store I got my watch from was not an authorized dealer...
ended up getting Longines GrandeVitesse Automatic Chrono
http://www.j-tokei.com/watch/longines_s/l36364566.jpg
on another note... do you guys think I shouldve gotten it with a leather band rather than a metal bracelet?

Not true,a gentleman can have a really nice iced out chain.
I'm not really a fan of big expensive flashy watches,I like my big gold chains.
Are you making a joke?
Rappers and prisoners are the only men able to wear big chains withoiut looking like fools.
I have the nixon manual as my daily wearer (currently battery dead)
And as my dress watch, a classic Seiko gold band watch.

I just brought my watch in for batteries. This guy is an old friend of my Aunt. Anyways I got it back a week and a bit later, apparently he has a thing for diamonds and saw my watch, got an appraisal on it and said that I have to be careful when bringing watches in to get new batts or whatever because most of the time, ppl will replace diamonds with something else.

But hey, you can always get a second piece lol :D
What do you mean they don't hold their value too well? Is that a standard thing with the TAG's? Where do you go find a second hand one for that price? I almost got the TAG Carrera, but now after reading this, I'm glad I didn't.

Oris Divers.. great choice, congrats
is the black strap the same price as the ss strap, when bought together with the watch? i think getting a ss strap together with the watch usually would be a better deal, even if paying a premium for the ss strap first. because when getting a ss strap afterwards is more expensive then getting the rubber strap.

Yeah, the model with the ss bracelet was not available (It was my first choice as well). However, the price difference between the two models ( rubber vs stainless steel ) do correlate with the price difference of the bracelets.

^Oris make good bang for the buck watches. I have an Oris Artelier Complication. However, if you want a SS bracelet, I've found that it is cheaper to buy the watch with the bracelet, then buying it separately after. E.g. Difference in retail for my Zenith between rubber and SS bracelet is $500, but the retail on the bracelet by itself is $1700

Wow.. hopefully I'll be able to afford a Zenith/AP/IWC type of watch in the future. For my model, the SS bracelet was 240, rubber was 160 I believe ( this was at La Swiss ).

I personally prefer large dial size watches. PRC200 case diameter is 40mm ~ Moderate in my opinion.
Tissot quality is A++, Swatch Group brand. Other brands owned by the Swatch group include: Rado, Omega, Tiffany, longines and Swatch itself. I also recommend visiting your local Tissot AD and checking all the PRC200's in person, hold both SS and leather strap version. PRC200 Comes in White, Black and Blue dial version.
PRC200 is a Quartz movement. If this is your first decent watch, i recommend waiting for the new Automatic movement PRC200. Here is a preview picture:

Auto movements are more expensive, I would imagine a minimum $100-150 > than regular Quartz movement. So, $600-650 for the new PRC200 Automatic.

I heard about the sale at La Swiss...
the biggest waste of time ever...
They were trying to pawn off a huge 50-70& off sale...but they were ripping customers off...
I saw a nice big red 70% off sign by the Fortis display and was pretty stoked...I would definitely fork out the cash to buy a Fortis at 70% off for sure!
Checked out this one watch that I've liked for quite a while, asked to try it on...I then asked them how much the watch was...he told me $10K and 70% off...I was in shock...this watch is usually around a $4000-$4300 MSRP....at 70% off, it would have been an awesome price....
But fucking La Swiss...the crooks they are, marked it up over 200% and then offered 70%...I was furiuos...
This is some brutal business practice...garbage...
La Swiss will never see a penny from me...
That is weird. All the Oris watches I looked at, even when they bumped the discount from 50-70%, the MSRP was the exact same as the Oris site. In a sense, their MSRP was even cheaper with our dollar.
Unfortunately, I never ended up picking up a watch.
Their customer service sucked though.

I heard about the sale at La Swiss...
the biggest waste of time ever...
They were trying to pawn off a huge 50-70& off sale...but they were ripping customers off...
