the biggest issue is time
i can go to work the latest at 10, or i can be off earliest at 5
i've been doing stick and puck at richmond ice center for the last month so i've gotten used to going a couple times a week
don't want to spend more than 7-8 bucks each time either and hopefully get at least 2 hours of ice time
Edit: burnaby is an option as well

Richmond Ice center is your best bet, as they have one everyday from mon-fri 9 a.m to 3 p.m You can also check 8 rinks as they have stick and puck early in the morning on the weekends. But their ice-time is usually really shot

ice center is not an option considering i work in yaletown and would have to be at work by 10 am
i live around broadway station so going all the way to richmond doesn't make much sense

8rinks is from 1045-1215 & 245-415 so that wont work for you. Its only 1.5 hrs and costs like $8. I go there all the time, but i might consider richmond now, since the ice time is longer.
Does richmond limit the number of people on the ice?
richmond has a max limit of 30 people on the ice. however it usually doesn't reach that amount.
anakin: if i still remember richmond has early bird drop in starting at 7 or 730 for 1.5hrs for free.

this (http://www.city.vancouver.bc.ca/parks/rec/rinks/pdf/allrinks_winter_holiday_2007_08.pdf) is the schedule for all the Vancouver Parks Board rinks
this (http://icesports.com/NorthShore_HomePage.ashx?lang=en) is Canlan on the North Shore.
i use both of those regularly.

Vancouver Drop-In Hockey and Stick & Puck Directory (http://rinkrat.ca) :D
RinkRat.ca has drop-in hockey or stick and puck times for most ice arenas in Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Coquitlam, etc.
Any places that don't require full gear?

I recommend Richmond Ice Center, I go 2-3 times a week
I usually stay for usually at least 4 hours, I pack a lunch and everything and it's only $6
I stay long cuz I drive out from Surrey, I might as well stay long if I'm gonna drive far right?
there is a limit, but it's really hit or miss if it gets full or not but people do leave all the time
I wouldnt be surprised if Ive played a mini game or spoken to any of you guys there
