I hate eOSC..it's soo boring and assignments require so much work. Take a classical studies course 301, pure memorization.

Computer Science 101 - Dead easy course. Easiest course I've ever taken at UBC. Way easier than Phil 120. But like any course, there must be some challenges to them. Only difficult parts were HTML and JavaScript, but TAs are there to help you along the way. But it depends on the person too? I was strong in HTML but not so much on JavaScript. Ended up with 95% which is almost impossible for most people @ UBC = [.

But want a good guideline as to easy courses to take? Check out https://www.secure3.pair.ubc.ca/gradesdist/sindex.do . Go to a specific faculty and course that you might be interested in. Chances are, if the class average is high, then the course should be easy. The average for CPSC 101 was around 80 when i took it.

Astro 310 or 311 I heard is pretty easy. Lots of easy homeworks and bonus marks.

To be honest, when most people think of Bio 300, they think of a somewhat challenging course, but i heard its a pretty easy course.

Anyone got any recomendations for an easy 300-400 level course next term? I need one to finish off my degree and help boost my gpa, I looked at FNH 355 but its full and late Friday nights...no thanks.

Anyone taken ENGL 321 Distance Ed?

FYI, if anyone ever tells you that Phil120 with burkholder is easy, they're outdated.

It USED to be easy. Now it's hard.

LOL more like a recipe for disaster

Chem 233 = one of the hardest courses at UBC
Math 101 = Tedious calculus
Econ 101 & 102 = Some people find hard... Gateman is a fun, interesting prof that makes things interesting but has challenging exams as opposed to other profs like Lemche
Psyc 100 = Yeah it's hard... to keep yourself awake in that class

Hardest courses i've taken so far at UBC have been Chem 233, Bio 334, Bio 201, Math 100..

321 is easy..... but you kinda end up not studying for the final (esp if you're in the summer DE) and get really really screwed.... cause if you dont pass the final you dont pass the course.

anymore good EZ 300-lvl courses?

econ 310/311 with Ratna Shrestha.

Its for people NOT majoring in econ and are 100level equivs (aka econ 100 101)

He is the easiest prof- tells you whats on the final. like. the actual material that you need to study so you can ignore everything else. just not the easiest prof to understand :P definite gpa boosters.

as for another personal fave- eosc 114. yeah yeah i hear people say that eosc is so boring. but this is natural disasters. whats not crazy about natural disasters. and if you happen to get the summer with a brett, then a definite 90+ if you attend classes.

caveat with clst 301. it is pure memorization. but as much as she says its NOT cumulative.. IT IS! and for me, remembering 200+ terms was somewhat difficult. but i still did well i guess.

just took engl 301. not easy, but definitely a course that youd want to take if you ever see yourself in any professional setting or workplace. it teaches you great writing skills.

Good luck is right, anyone who uses that list will need it.

Chem 233 - one of the hardest around
Math 101 - when I was in first year our class average was just under 50% going into the final
Econ 101/102 - gateman is fun, but I wouldnt call the class easy
Psych 100 - worst 6 credits of my life

eng321 is not bad..but its a 8 month course haha..
60% homework..guaranteed full marks since theres TONs of ppl that have taken it and the homework has been exactly the same for over 5 years.
40% exam..so if you pass the exam you get A..btw the final is only 40 marks so its 1% per mark hahahah

but the material is overwhelming..its 2 inches thick with a 10 font

hows eosc 116. the dinosaur one

Two words: No Dinosaurs.

It's about the Earth during the era of the dinosaurs. A better and more interesting (imo) course would be the Natural Disaster one- EOSC 114. Plus living in the PacNW, it'd be nice to know to run the hell away when you see all the animals flying away hahaha :haha:

and seriously, ECON 310/311 are disgustingly easy if its Ratna teaching. He tells you EVERYTHING that's on the MT and Final. Literally, he'll remove 3/4 of the studying you need to do on the final.

if theres one thing ive learned, theres no "across the board" "easy class".
everyone has their strengths and weaknesses.
for me, its writing with economic/political concepts.
economic history of the us (int'l student).. econ337.. highest grade

but, not for everyone.
people told me some easy courses and i did poorly in them.
so find out what you like or what youre good at, and go from there.

just bumping this thread since the 09 summer schedule is out.

Im in need of booster courses...and Im thinking of doing
EOSC 114 Natural Disasters. The prof is Leah May Ver and im thinking of doing it thru distant ed..anyone have experience with this course/prof??

This link is no longer working. =(

edit: im looking for anything EASY..regardless of which department (any 100-300 lvl classes offered this summer)

What about any Chinese classes...are they offered in traditional at all? Do they all require interview and is it easy to "fake" your fluency?

A couple of my buddies are doing EOSC 114 right now through distance ed, 40% of it is online quizzes which are super easy, they do them together use the textbook and google and easily get 90-95% on all of them, then 60% is the final which they think will be tough but as long as you get 60% or so you're gonna get 70 something in the class, if you study hard and do well on the final its an easy 80+.

is anyone taking wine tasting?

that wine course is pure memorization if ur good at memorizing stuff then take it

r2edline
03-11-2009, 04:03 PM
^ I agree with the above post, a friend of mine is taking it, said its very tough if you're not good at memorizing and if you don't know anything about wine its hard because you can't BS it

im really interested to see if they have another website where they have class averages of diff classes.

anyone have experience with the CHIN 114? Do they offer it in Traditional? How easy is it to fake fluency during interview?
