judging from the gameplay, it seems that its either running on the SF4 engine with modified VS combo system gameplay, it literally mimicks MvsC 2

obviously, there is no plan for this game to be released outside of Japan due to copyright issues that Capcom need with the Gotchaman characters.. hence the reason little hype and awareness of this game in north america...

with SF4 engine with VS combo gameplay intact, Capcom can easily re negotiate with Marvel, and implement the characters on this engine, seeing as the template is all set and ready..

I played it last night at an arcade in Tokyo! First, I got whooped by some Japanese dude (I suspect he let me win the 2nd round), and then I made it to the final boss on one credit (good thing too, because credits are like $1 each). This plays exactly how you'd think, and it is fun as hell. Can't wait for the console version to come out.

you can change character while in air combo, there is now an air dash and the gameplay has definitely slowed down a bit compared to MvsC 2..

There's the original 12 characters, plus 4 new playable, plus 1 boss. The camera goes all crazy when you do a super combo... I think it looks rad, and it's not like it matters - you are basically just watching an animation play by anyway! Once the move ends, the camera goes back in no time.

I picked Ken, my character since SFII. I prefer his dragon punch, because it sweeps forward just a bit.

I do OK against the computer (although got whipped by Viper) but against the locals in the arcade.. forget it! I did come back to win one round against a dude playing as Vega, but then he just crushed me in the 3rd round. Makes me wonder if he just gave me the 2nd round ;)

I want to play more and more, but at 100 Yen per play, it's kind of expensive. Especially when it's going to be out on home console pretty soon anyway. I am going to shop for a nice arcade stick tomorrow @ Akihabara.

there was blurry scans and screenshots of Akuma that was posted on joystiq.com couple of weeks back

and since Akuma has been pretty much been included in almost all of Capcom's Fighting games, the last being Capcom Fighting Evolution i think, i wouldnt doubt he will be included in the home console..

Capcom did a poll on which character would people want to be included in the home consoles and Fei Long got the most votes with Cammy close to trailing behind....

How are the Focus Attacks work? like absorbing the hits of the opponents, are they executed like the parrying in SF3?

I havent figured out the focus attacks yet really.. from what I see, basically it's a slow attack you can do, where you can absorb some (but not infinite) damage. The longer you hold it, the more powerful the attack. And it knocks the opponent down.

More importantly, you can use it to cancel a current move, so you can do like a super shoryureppa, cancel it before it ends, and do another shoryureppa for a crazy ass combo. But this requires crazy timing.

You definitely have to play more defensively than before, but not like SF3. It's actually pretty much a perfect balance of the two styles.

We're not exactly sure if it was supposed to be a secret, considering we've seen his ginger likeness in media for the game before, but Capcom recently revealed a few Street Fighter IV screenshots featuring the series' crimson-haired big bad, Akuma. Apparently, he only rears his nefarious head when an arcade player is doing a little too good, and hasn't fed the machine any precious quarters in a while. While he may seem like SFIV's official toll collector, the video posted after the jump proves that he can, in fact, be whooped up upon -- and that he's also a Hadoken-spamming jerk.

Later, Capcom actually wrote a character to be their trainer, but called him Gouken. So I guess you can still call him Sheng Long for nostalgia's sake (just make sure you pronounce Long as rhyming with "Lone" not "Wrong" or it just sounds stupid)

If you want to be totally technical about it, Sheng Long is a perfectly acceptable translation for Dragon Punch. The "shoryu" part of "shoryuken" was translated into Chinese, which was then transliterated into English to read as Sheng Long. The term "sheng long" translates as "rising dragon" in Chinese.

SkinnyPupp is right about the exact history though. EGM started the hoax and it caught on, then Capcom actually created a master and called him Gouken. If "fake" Sheng Long is Ken and Ryu's master, and Gouken is Ken and Ryu's master, and we assume that Ken and Ryu only had one master, then Gouken is Sheng Long.
