Hey guys,
so I have a DELL Laptop (Inspiron 1501) and the battery took a dump the other week. I was having 1:50 hrs of use then all of a sudden 0:30hrs..
fuck eh?
now the idea of portability is pretty much out the window.. where would you go to replace the battery locally or for cheap? At Dell.ca it's around $139 for a 6 cell and $350 for a 9cell bettery..
any suggestions?
how long has your laptop batteries lasted before they crapped out?

my 1st laptop's battery went from 1.5hrs to less than 1 minute, then instant death
i bought another 6-cell battery for $169 on hp's website.
I think there's some place called Dr. Battery in Richmond, which sells decent aftermarket batteries.

i called them just 2 weeks ago.. was looking for an hpdv2000 battery..
they quoted me $92 for an 8 - cell battery.. seems decent for the price
i actually drove by their place.. kinda hard to find because its in an industrial area..

Intelligent battery is the place to go... They have pretty decent prices on 3rd party batteries, and i know of a few computer stores that go through them.

Are these aftermarket batteries safe? They won't blow up or anything while I'm charging them will they? lol

you'd be better off buying a new OEM battery from ebay or dell.ca if you want to continue using your laptop for the next year or so
i've bought several sets of batteries for my laptop (d620) and from experience i can suggest that you make sure 2 things:
1. dont buy from dealers in HK or China.. chances are its gonna be aftermarket regardless of what they say. in other words, buy from dealers in canada and USA
2. buy OEM if you can.....aftermarket = YMMV so don't expect too much

mine just started crapping out a week or two ago, 30 mins full load now =( it's been just over a year... left laptop on for like 2 days with battery inside + plugged in, i think that's how it got raped lol

I bought from Battery Depot. Fast shipping, works great, and one year of warranty included.

diy. all laptop batteries are composed of smaller batteries hooked up in a circuit held together within a bracket. crack it open and find similar batteries.

seems to be a common problem with this model...do a google search on it...there might be some things u want to try before buying a new one.
