| "What is HDR?"
Here's my attempt at saving people from HDR madness. PLEASE do not go crazy with this tool. Save the world from blindness.
This is the first ever article that I read on HDR: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/hdr.shtml
Then I read up on how to create them in Photomatix: http://www.vanilladays.com/hdr-guide/

People do take it WAY too far, but sometimes it yields great results. I am going to give it a shot this week with some night photography in Hong Kong. Should be fun!

I don't remember if it was someone I know or if it was something I read online, but someone said along the lines of this.
"The best HDR's are the ones that don't look like it.

Salar had the best HDR images ever! The difference was he took 12+exposures for most of his shots

I think it's just people not adjusting their exposures for the specific photo, and you end up with the halos and blown out highlights.
