I wont be much help, but my aunt (who owns a beauty salon) knew this old lady that makes awesome perogies, perfect texture, consistency, and taste. I think she sold the recipe to some place in kerrisdale, but its nowhere near as good as the originals made by the old woman herself :p.

The difference between frozen preogies and home made are night and day. Thats not to say I never eat frozen ones but you can't even compare it's like Frozen Pizza vs Deep dish pizza in NY.

I'm hooked on the Chemo perogies from Safeway...they have a bunch of cool flavours (sour cream and dill or something, four cheese, etc) and if you get them on sale, they're pretty cheap :)

My friend's family makes the BEST perogies, he said the secret was the chill the dough.

it's fricken night and day try it and fried with a little butter is even better.

In Winnipeg Anne's perogie house some of the best around, nothing beats going to a place. Now being from the peg we had hunky bills same place that comes to the PNE every year. I heard he sells them out of his basement has tons of freezers stuffed full. You should look it up.

Everyone say it with me: "PIEROGI" not "PEROGIES". Pierogi is plural.

That's your polish lesson for today.

Oh yeah, the BEST perogi do not have egg in the dough. Egg dough is tough, eggless dough melts in your mouth.

You can have perogi with just about anything you want to put inside. Here are some different varieties:

Savory:
- Potato and Cottage Cheese (Dry Curd) <- Traditional
- Potato and Cream Cheese
- Potato and Cheddar Cheese
- Potato & Onion
- Bacon & Sauerkraut <- Also Traditional

Dessert:
- Blueberry
- Blackberry
- Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip (My own creation)

Make sure you fry up some bacon & onions to top the savoury versions. Pan fry left-overs the next morning for breakfast.

Damn I'm hungry now. I got some of my mom's in the freezer. Mmmmmmmm.
