only the versus trailer captivated me, as it felt very "FF7-ish" and the normal one felt kinda "FF10-ish". I know both are in the same world, but the mood each trailer had was kinda different. I hated FF10.

Naw, I believe each and every FF is a separate game with different story/characters except a couple exceptions..

I have yet to be disappointed by a Final Fantasy game... (this does not include all the crappy offshoots)

It's always my go to game. I actually just re bought X and X-2 remaster for PS4.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills sometimes because I never thought FF7 was ever good. But everyone seems to universally love it. I was in grade 9 or 10 when it came out and I remember kids in my school saying how great the movies are, and never heard much about the gameplay / story. I found the story to be pretty uninspired and very cliché with poor dialogue. Also, boring characters in my opinion.

I think the reason why FF7 was so popular was that at the time was it was the first 3D Final Fantasy. Story aside, it had lots of of CG scenes which at the time was pretty amazing not to mention the death of a main character.
