Looking for DDR SO-DIMM(s) for a Dell Latitude D600 laptop. Machine has only the stock 128MB, will take up to 2GB (2x1GB), would like to get it up to at least 512MB. Got about $50 to spend. I can get the stuff at A-Link, NCIX, A-Power, etc. at around $35-$40 for 512, but A-Link and A-Power can't have it in til next week, and NCIX is impossible to actually reach anyone to talk to...

'Preciate all the replies so far, but this requires PC2100/PC2700 DDR RAM. DDR2/PC2-* won't work.

You never said that, but all of the above offerings will work. They'll just work at the lower speed.

Not correct. DDR2 is not the same physical dimensions as DDR1. The pin placement is different.

BTW NCIX has some PC2700 1gb sticks for ~30. That's the best deal going around, and all you have to do is show up. Here's the link:

Yeah, problem is, it doesn't say if they actually have it in stock at any of the retail stores... I don't want to drive all over town to find it's only "in stock" for web shipping. Every store I've called or checked online, they don't stock DDR1, it's all special-order. Unfortunately nobody at NCIX ever answers the phone, and when I called the Burnaby store, the system asked me to leave a message, then put me through to a mailbox that was full. Not really having a lot of faith in these guys.

Thanks for the tip tho.

None of the 4 stores are closeby? Usually I try to pop in an hour after opening when it's pretty dead. There are locations in Burnaby, Vancouver (Broadway and Pine), Langley and Richmond. Not to mention you can order online and pick up in store as well.

I'm in Pitt Meadows, so until the Golden Ears Bridge opens, none of NCIX's stores are particularly convenient - with the weather lately, I'm looking at close to an hour to get to any of them.

Anyway, I did finally get an email back from them, stating that they don't carry nor can they get PC2100 SO-DIMMs... this despite their website listing a couple dozen items in a search...
