Update on what Ive been working on lately.

Been putting some work into doing a bandpass in my explorer.

Plans have changed several times but Ive finally decided to do 6 15s in a fourth order configuration.

The current design is 2 cubes per woofer in the sealed chamber (will probably work better at around 1 cube but easier to build big then shrink it) and the ported chamber is 43.5 cubes. The loading wall/port is 6" thick and has 995 sq inches of port area. Box tunes to 38 hz and should play music extremely well once the sealed enclosures are tuned at the rear.

Floor is 1.5-3.5" thick, roof is 3.5", sides are up to 5.5" thick in some spots, rear wall is also 5.5" thick and sealed boxes are all 1.5".

Goal is to burp a 160+ on the termlab and bassrace 156+. Id imagine on music it should peak in the 158-159 range once tuned.

Gear used will be:
4 American Bass 500.1s - 20kilwatts @ 12 volts...? @ 16
12-16 powermaster or kinitek 16 volt batts
subs ?...probably DC audio level 4 15s

meades is all in the cargo area.

and i was much louder than him already in my explorer with my gear in the cargo area too. although his plays music much better than mine did. Ive heard it in person. Was quite impressive for a non walled setup but theres always room for improvement. Then again hes also used the same box for a few years.

What are you going to do about the roof buckling issue? I would imagine with this new set-up the roof issue will be not a problem.

roof actually wasnt an issue last year either with that side firing setup. Took a lot of pressure off the roof and put it in the opposite corner of the sensor. Opposite corners are very important in SPL

No the roof shouldnt be too much of an issue with this one. I have the roof all framed up with 2x4s attached to the roof braces now and am going to expanding foams inside all the gaps. Can see the sunroof being an issue though. Might have to take it out and weld in some steel.

The whole box will be externally braced to the vehicle itself. Kinda like a wooden roll cage I guess.

Definitely pumped to be workin on getting this truck loud again. Its come a long way

unfortunately the explorer and that build have been written off. Lot of work down the drain

Time for something new though. Will be using my 81 malibu wagon as my competition vehicle this year.

Heres the planned enclosure...setup for 8 18s but might drop to 15s as Im getting tight on volume but am reluctant to give up 30% of my cone area. 433 sq inches of port tuned to 32 hz.

Goal is still do burp a 160+ at the dash and bassrace around a 156. Should be able to demo it all day long.

And finally get to use my team shadow 200 amp alt again from one of my past vehicles.
