hey guys,

I have a cheap P&S that imo takes awesome pictures for the price I got it for which was free:thumbsup:. It's an HP Photosmart M517 and it feels pretty cheap and imo it is but I think it does the job well. I'm looking to get a full sized tripod from London Drugs only because I can get a discount. I went in and looked at one and later went on the site and found a few others. I need help picking, I don't know whats good and whats bad so any info is awesome! Here are the ones I'm considering. I'm listing them in the order I'm thinking of getting.

damn really can't compete with those prices. Which one of those do you have and would recommend?

they work great the all so have single tripods for quick shots..

I'll stop by tomorrow to check some out. What should I look for in a tripod? I know these aren't the best ones but what should I be looking out for when picking out one?

Just be careful with the cranks. Those things tend to break easily.

Will do, I'll probably end up getting a couple of them. When you said be careful with the cranks, whats the most common way they break? From tripod tipping over or just abusing them?

Mine broke when I was trying to raise the head. It just snapped...I wasn't forcing it. I did have my camera attached though, so maybe that extra weight was enough to do it. You get what you pay for. I broke 2 of them so I bought a proper tripod after that.

I'll be really careful then, which tripod was it?

Oh and before I go out to pick it up. For taking pictures of cars, which would be better? Like in general should I get the one that can be set at the highest height or would all be about the same. Because the ones they have are 49",60", and 61". Should I go for the 61" one?

just picked up this tripod:

$19.77 as listed on the site. Not bad, but definitely a cheap one. I can definitely see the crank breaking off, so I'm going to see if theres a way I can buy a different metal crank or something stronger at least.

Heres the tripod:

And, I really want to figure out a way to strengthen this crank or find a stronger one. It's held in by a pin so I may be able to find something else.
