Like i said, i downloaded season 8 of Seinfeld, something like 22 episodes to choose from, when ever i try to play one, i only hear but i don't see anything but a black screen, i try to open w/ quick time player, then winamp, and then windows media, all nothing.

VLC usually solves the audio/no video problem. That or Media Player Classic. I prefer the latter

Because your'e missing the video codec that it's encoded with, that's why.

it solves EVERYTHING, from AVI to MKV with media player 11

Codec packs are overrated and most of them are filled with outdated crap. Just get ffdshow/MPC, or just VLC.

That's my bet - it's made with a newer version of DivX. Most times you have an outdated codec, or don't have the correct codec, the file won't play at all, and your player will throw an error. Anytime I've had audio with black/no video, it's been a file made with a newer DivX than the version I'm running.
