I haven't downloaded music in YEARS, so I'm not too sure what I should be using...any suggestions as to what site is the safest? (ie: no viruses) and free? I used to use Limewire and never had much of a problem with it, but my g/f's comp just kicked the bucket 'cuz of some nasty virus it got off of there...

Yup, this is the best method combined with music blogs. You can also search "$$$$$$$$$$", "speedyshare" and other storage sites but I recommend you find some music blogs because you’ll be downloading new releases everyday and don’t have to waste time searching the net for music.

I'm still amazed people waste time with torrents when sites like rapidshare are much quicker and safer and have huge amounts of content available.

yeah i did that. Havent used my limewire for a year or so and now it doesnt even connect. Tried looking at the firewall restrictions and limewire was allowed but still didnt work. There were other options on the internet about fixing it but I downloaded Bearshare instead. Bearshare is pretty decent but not close to limewire.

google youtube downloader and it will link you to several sites that let you take the url and then dl the track. quality isnt as good as id like, but its the only way to get some rarer tracks.

drag and drop the youtube link in there. it will turn it into a mp4. i can play it in my winamp no problems and if you want to put it in your car or something there are trillions of programs you can use to convert it to mp3 or .wav. Like i said though, you're never really going to get the best quality with this method but sometimes I just cant find a track any other way.
