hey guys, don't know if this is a re post, mods delete if so. I was on ebay looking at cars and came by this,

not too difficult to repair that I reckon....

just the parts and stuff...but Lambos are known to be built in such a way that any smashy smashy is going to throw everything off..... so not a good idea actually.

oh, I'm not even thinking about buying it, just thought since every time this car is brought up, RS members including myself were wondering what had happened to it, so i thought i would post it.

LOL, right $8000 of parts will fix this car up.

LOL, right $8000 of parts will fix this car up.

no kidding. I would think you'd need to add another zero to fix that car (parts&labour). but if you could buy the car for 100k and then spend 80k to fix it, 180k for an LP640 is quite the steal.

Supafly
01-12-2009, 06:27 AM
the car is being sold in canada by an american company because import rules state that you cannnot import vehicles across the border if it has a write-off tag. Therefore he is trying to unload. This car is not repairable aside from being cosmetically repaired. Its structure no longer can widstand another impact. The entire car is made of aluminum and carbon fiber....

Wait, so someone is going to pay $150k for a car that can't be repaired?

What a steal...

SumAznGuy
01-12-2009, 09:47 AM
My friend who does ICBC rebuilds said he looked at the car when it was at the ICBC lot. Besides the obvious cosmetic damage, there was some frame damage. I believe he said the right front suspension was bent badly.

well i guess the car is only good for a whole rebuild from scratch or parting it out

Timpo
01-12-2009, 11:37 AM
there is no way you can fix that for $8,000.

I don't know about Murcielago, but for the Diablo, the bumper costs $20,000 and for SE30 Jota model, the bumper costs $35,000.

so yeah, as mentioned, you would have to add another 0 for sure.

No way you can fix that with $8000, $50000 is more plausible....

If this was fixable, ICBC would have fixed it instead of giving the owner a brand new replacement.

We have purchased the following: DRIVER AIRBAG,PASSENGER AIRBAG,SRS MODULE,SEATBELTS,DRIVER HEADLIGHT ,AND FRONT BUMPER (practically 90% of the parts that you would need in order to repair it)A VALUE WORTH OVER 40000$ but have to picked up from texas. You could repair all the carbon fiber pieces and even the aluminum pieces on the front left corner, THE CAR SHOULD NOT COST MORE THAN ANOTHER 8000$ IN PARTS MAX AND AROUND 7000$ IN LABOR ,THE CAR RETAIL IS OVER 280000$ AND YOU SHOULD HAVE IT READY AT LESS THAN 1700004 WHAT A STEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

they have most of the parts, they are saying $8000 MORE in parts and $7000 in labour (you just have to picked them up in texas lol)

im sure its 8g's in parts, i was in california in the summer, went to the lambogihini dealership part department, asked them for a hood, and quaters panels and such all, its way more that 8g's, the hood alone for that car is probably 8g's

What you guys aren't understanding is were not allowed to bring Lamborghinis into Canada, which doesn't mean we are not allowed to bring parts from the states, down here a wrecked lambo is not that easy to find, but a simple search on google will reveal many salvaged lambos in the states. so bringing those parts in from the states for 8k may be do able. Since the seller does have some of the parts (i.e airbags and bumper).

Yeah, 8gs for a hood, bumper, suspension bits, wheel and a new frame.

EDIT: Forgot to add, these are Lamborghini LP640 bits to be had for cheap. Cause you know, salvaged Lambo parts are on the cheapcheap down in the US of A.

Are you an idiot? They have the bumper no need for a new wheel, it needs a new control arm and bumper, if your not in a hurry I'm sure you can find those parts slowly, if your buying a lambo (even if it is a salvage) I'm sure you know there are costs involved and whenever repairing a vehicle something else always pops up, some lambo owner change there hoods or add body kits, what if they sell there stock parts for a good bargain? if your not in a hurry you can probably find it, maybe not all in 8k but maybe 10? 15? you never know until you start searching. There's always people that are selling, I'll leave it all up to luck to the buyer to find cheap parts.

Interesting but I highly doubt the seller will see that much because this car is near impossible to repair. Only thing left to do is part out but to part out $98,000 would take a long time.

wouldn't you agree that, that exact engine with the millage it has, fetch upwards to 60-70k easily? and rims say 5000? seats 2000? (prices from what i have seen on lambo sites) exhaust, rest of the interior...and many other parts which would probably sell right away, be easy for you to hit par with the buying price?

It's hard to say really how much of the car you can part out and how much you'll get for the parts.

It would be interesting to find out if Lambo would be able to fix the car and if they could how much would it cost. I remember reading that the Porsche GT that crashed in Vancouver a few years ago was sent back to Germany to be repaired.

the easiest way to deal with this is if we call the guys that have the car for sale. In there ad it says "YOU SHOULD HAVE IT READY AT LESS THAN 1700004 WHAT A STEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.We are dealers and Lamborghini repair shop in texas and have purchased the car from British Columbia.Vancouver Canada," if they are a Lamborghini repair shop and have estimated it costs around 170000 to repair the car back to normal, i would have no problem buying that car and sending it to the states to get fixed then bringing it back down. Hell ill even give then 190000 to fix have it back to normal (yes i know it will never be the same, but as long as its a good job getting done from a "Lamborghini repair shop" I'm fine with it". What Ive done in the past, well about 5 years ago, i brought a Ferrari 355 down from the states that was wrecked, brought it local to a shop that had many parts in stock, fixed it and took it back down to the states (don't know if this will still work) but if it does, a LP640 for 190000? I'm down

I've dealed with a few people that have rebuilt exotics.

It's very time consuming, parts are extremely expensive. And some parts you have to try and make yourself. All in all, not a safe car. You might save a bit of cash if you're looking to show off, and don't plan to drive the crap out of it.

But whoever thinks $8000 to fix that is on crack. If it would only cost that much it would've been repaired.

A Mondena with lighter damage than that costed 60K+ to fix on top of buying the wreck.

You should buy it, fix it and then tell us how it is then.

The bigger idiot here is the one who believes they're getting a "bargain" out of fixing that car. Whatever floats your boat.

Never knew that cheapass and Lamborghini would be used in the same sentence.

If it was worth fixing, or could be fixed at a reasonable price, I'm sure they would've brought it down to the USA. $5300 in duty shouldn't be enough to stop them.

Anyone know the specifics of the accident though?
