Name changed last Thursday at 4PM. The Virgin Group didn't buy anything. Astral Media (owners of Crave) bought the rights to use the name "Virgin" 953 from Virgin Radio International gaining access to a lot of their features and countdowns from the UK. This is the second Virgin radio Astral has launched in Canada. There is Toronto's Virgin 999 and over the weekend the flipped 2 more stations to Virgin in Montreal and Ottawa

He's not increasing anything in Vancouver. He has nothing in Vancouver other than borrowing Bell's network to run Virgin Mobile. Virgin Megastore downtown was a failed experiment. He realized he couldn't compete with HMV anywhere in Canada, sold it to them and left the country entirely. Plans to build one in Toronto has now turned into an Adidas store

you know it's strange that our radio stations seem to have a turnover of a few years until they eventually change names and target demographics.

Unless it's 99.3, I don't listen to any local radio. Even then, I'll only listen to the Jeff O'Neil Morning Show and History of New Music segments. The rest of the time Ipod and USB control on my car stereo is good enough for me.

you do know us Vancouverites can't listen to it anymore on the radio unless we travel about 30 minutes south past the border, and to listen to it on the internet it's blocked to all Canadians. Shitty deal for us thanks to the CRTC.
