There's free parking by the park that is East of BCIT across from Wayburne.

you know if you only gonna park there like 10 minutes i doubt you will get a ticket. just go park in the visitors area and go hand it in

A friend of mine used to just leave an old ticket on his dash and he claims he never got a ticket.

makes sense since impark probably hires the laziest fuckers ever.

since parking is 3.50 per day..
and you dont need to leave a ticket in front of ur dash board
b/c the person who paid entered their stall #

cant cars just pull in someones stall who has already paid when they leave?

not if the person bought the weekly pass which then bcit uses the car's license plate number as the ticket to prove you have paid.

Yes. But remember, if someone pays before 4:30 that means they only paid for parking in that stall till 4:30. So you can do that but after 4:30 you will get a ticket.

after i came back i found a ticket on my window

lol yeah but what if the guy who parked there didn't pay for the stall because he had an early day and just took those chances

haha I have one tip my friend and I use but I'm not going to share it until I'm done at BCIT.

You guys have to get creative! I've never done this but my instructor told me a few years back there were a group of students that would buy one ticket, photocopy it, cut it out and place it on their dash. Eventually Impark caught on and towed all their cars.

yes, that works,
but its a guessing game, what if the student in the spot have a monthly pass?
just don't park in the spots super close, those students come early, meaning most likely they have a monthly pass

:lol 3.50/day is really cheap compared to SFU (except for cheap lot) and UBC.

$2.75/hr up at SFU :( . Hell, Langara is like $5/day :lol

it used to be $2/day a couple of years ago, or free, if you use the old insert coins in a row and push in machines .lol

last year was like $3/day

I usually have classes at night (630-930), just wondering if any of the side streets have free parking?

You sure about that? On all the tickets it says it expires 6:00am the next day. I think 4:30pm is when you can start parking in the teacher's lots.

if u only have morning class u don't have to pay.... if i leave the school b4 noon i never pay and i never got a ticket.

Also since if u paid for the stall spot and if you go out for lunch or something and come back and someone took you stall u can just put ur original recept on your dash and dats fine.( i usually do that since more ppl left the school means i can park closer to my class)
so that means you can share with your frd. Before one of my frd would just buy the stall and give me the recept and i would just put that on my dash... i did that for a whole year and its fine. never gotten a ticket.

but if you are a really cheap bastard and won't mind walking 10mins+ to class.. u can park at the park on the other side of the road for free near deer lake. even tho there are signs there that says 2 hour max.. few ppl i know parked there for a whole semister ealier this year and they said its totally fine

One reminder though, not everyone pays for their parking by stall. There are people (like me) who buys a parking permit online each week. That way, I can park wherever I want. So I pay for my car's license, not the stall where I park.

That's why it's a gamble to assume the person before you for a stall already paid, because they could have been using a permit instead.

edit:
If you're really really cheap, you can wait at the ticket machines for people who leave their receipts when they buy their tickets or just see if you're lucky enough to find one on the ground.

They don't tow you right away though... unless he already had two outstanding tickets? Third time's the charm...

first 2 times was exactly as u described

but after he paid it all off they failed to clear his record on file, and he was towed right away

any good places to park near SW2/3 in evenings?

If you're coming from kingsway going downhill towards BCIT, turn left on sanderson and then take the next left again. It's free after 6pm.

^ question!

So I turned left on Sanderson and when do I turn left again? It's quite complicated near there..haha..since theirs Kodak/EA and another BCIT building. I saw EA's building but theirs turn-stalls(sp?)/gates there?

koukimonst3r

park by the OTHER bcit building (: they're free after 6pm if you happen to look.
I park there every week lol

JulyZerg
09-24-2009, 01:16 PM
^ So you turn left on the first street after turning left on Sanderson?

And I just park inside the parking lot or on the streets?

koukimonst3r

Yep, park on the street.

JulyZerg

Yep my classroom is in SW1. Quite the walk.
I'm looking for other free parking spots too!
It's just way too dark, it'd be fine if the lights were on

Wow thats far LOL it's almost like on opposite ends haha

I agree, it's pretty dark when you're walking up the hill then turning left towards your car. It can get pretty dangerous if you encounter the wrong people or thing..haha

Hook me up if you find some other free parking spots! I'll share em too if I encounter any :)

I think there's like a free parking spot around the NE-NW area of BCIT. I'll let you know.

Gardner or Garner st along canada way, it's free after 6pm. you're lucky if your class is around the northeast area.

I've got a class at SW1 so I'm still debating where to park and which one's closer lol

thx for the post. i normally park at the greentree village park and it's about a 7minute walk to my sw6 class. for my ne1 class, it's a lot further. i was thinking about paying $3 today because of the wind and rain but gardner street looks really close to ne1.
