G35 or 325CI

So.. I am planning to buy my first car around the end of September.
Long ways away from now but i would like some opinions on both these cars.
I have narrowed my chioices from a Evo to an A4 and came to a conclusion that i want either a G35 or 325CI both coupe.
My budget is around 20-40g.
I still haven't decided what year for both but I was thinking about 06 for G35 and 05 for 325CI.
Err, I hope this this right section, if not could someone move it. :D

i say g35, just because i have an infiniti and i love it.

can't deny the beemer quality.. but the infiniti is also about the luxury and its also got the bigger engine compared to a 325
my personal preference would be the g35, simply because its a beautiful car bone-stock, its sexy exhaust note, appealing interior and a satisfyingly powerful car by itself

if maintenance costs are a concern, the G35 would be a better choice.

dude, drive both and im confident that you'll pick the g35. 287hp > 184 lol
they're both fine if you're just cruising around but if you're looking to do any sort of spirited driving, then the 325 won't get you anywhere. and imo, the e46 doesn't look good unless it's an m3. and like shanghai kid said, the g35's exhaust note is so sexy. whereas the 325 pretty much has no exhaust note lol

Lmao.. Mugen EvOlutioN, maybe I'm not into the power but the luxury. :P

than wat he said
the G coupe definitely has a nice curves from every angle bone stock espeically with the sport package deck lid wing. better than the 3 series imo, exhaust note is good. The back room is fairly roomy, not sure about the 3

What year did they stop making the G35? 2007?
Automatic or Manual btw.
Wow, every year they just keep slapping on HP on the G35 lmao.
Hmmm I am leaning towards the G35 so far but lets take aside the engine from both cars which car would you desire then?

still the g35. if the 325 doesn't come with the m-sport package then it's ugly as hell. and even if it does, it still doesn't look as good as the g35 with sport package.

facelifted 330ci with m-performance package. looks the same as 325ci with msport except for the bigger wheels.

g35c with sport package.
i've sat in the back of a 330ci before. not much room, but very similar to a g35.
If this is a car that you will keep for only 3-5 years and have plans to upgrade in 3-5 years..
G35!
But you will not regret the handling of the 325Ci, although it is a little bit under-powered and 325Ci maintenance is also much higher.
Get the G35, save for a few more years, and go for the 335i! (or the new F30 based 335/340/3xx)

325i interior space reminds me of a corolla, and is almost as slow as one too haha. I drove my bro's 05 325i a few times. Car is pretty lame, i would never buy one, g35 interior feels a bit cheap with all the plastic, and center console design leaves much to be desired. Having said that, if i were to choose, g35 would still be a winner.

my thoughts exactly
HP isnt everything, but it is something when u are tryin to merge or spirit drive once inawhile and the car isnt going anywhere.
i really cant see myself driving in a car that weighs 1550kg roughly with only 184hp. The G35 on the hand has decent torque, auto or manual doesnt matter, the center dash is filled with lots of silver plastic, earlier gen has no silver trim. G37 on the other hand the interior is night and day difference vs the the 35. U mentioned ur budget is around $40g max? maybe u might be able to find a used 37 for around $45g ? i dunno

I was thinking about the G37 but I rather not spent like 40+ for my first car.
I was thinking about the 350z as well but it doesn't look as good as a G35 in my eyes.
I was going to get an IS250 or Audi A4 2009 model before but i didn't want to buy a new car since i doubt i would be able to pay for the insurance and shit since i'm still attending school.

If you are ok with 4 door, you can get a really nice 2006 330i (sports, ca, etc) for like 30g. If you find a late 2006 one, you will still have warranty for another year or so. You can save some money on service.

That's a wide range for 20~40g.
But you will get more performance and less trouble for the G than the 325ci.
You will properly find a G37 for 40g by Sep.

There are no difference in 07 and 06.
06 6MT is listed as 298hp and 07 is listed as 292hp.
The lower listed hp on the 07 is because the new hp rating standard.
Nothing is different.
And all the 03~07 5AT, 03~04 6MT have the same 287hp.
05~07 6MT got higher redline which called rev-up engine.
The rev-up has some minor difference than non-revup.

Hm, what about a RX-8? 3 doors (2 + .5 + .5 doors. :D), 4 seats, really good handling, unique rotary engine...
Downside is the gas mileage and lack of power compared to the G35. It's more powerful than the 325ci.
The Renesis rotary in the 2005+ RX-8 is supposed to be quite reliable as long as you maintain it properly.

Actually there is no deference between the two other then the year. They are both exactly the same but it is a little more exensive to get a 2007 and there are less of them around for sale. I wanted to find one with very little km and in really good condition. If you find an 06 for a good price, low km's, and good condition then I would go for it. Other wise stick with the younger 07. That's a great budget for a first car. I suggest the BMW, but for your price range you could probably go for a later model for under 40k lets say 2007-2008 Bmw 335i Coupe. Its your decision and if you prefer the "classic" beamer I have nothing against that.

^ I'm pretty sure you can't get a 07 or 08 335i for under 40k

The BMW hate in this thread really pisses me off. There's been so many absurd comments that I would like to throw down my 2 cents. Granted, I own a 330, but I drove a G35 extensively before I bought this car and I love them both.
1) Why are you comparing a 325 with a G35 coupe? As a few others have said, that's comparing apples and oranges. A more fair comparison would be the 330ci, as that was really the G35 Coupe's only direct competitor in both price and performance. Better yet, compare with the 330ci ZHP (an up-tuned version of the regular 330ci with 240bhp).
2) Whoever said that the G35 has a nicer interior is smoking some seriously potent sh*t. It's a decent interior in terms of ergonomics, but the quality/fit and finish are light years behind the BMW. The G35 coupe is nice, don't get me wrong, but it feels cheap and plasticky in comparison. The vision is horrible, too.

3) In terms of performance, the 330ci ZHP and the G35 Coupe are extremely similar in both a straight line and around a track. The ZHP has a better steering feel and a smoother engine but the G35 has better torque and LSD. It's definitely a more pure sports car.
4) The G35 cannot mimic the BMW's driving feel, especially a ZHP. It is simply one of the smoothest, most balanced cars ever made - ever. Not to say it's the *best* car ever made, or even any better than the G35 as a whole, but it's extremely smooth and balanced. On the flipside, the G35 has that beautiful exhaust tone and the big V6 with great torque.
5) Looks are personal choice. G35 is flashier and sportier, 330ci is classier and a bit more understated. Overall, I prefer the 330's subtle good looks, but most people are more drawn to the G35's sexiness. I admit it's a beautiful car.
6) In the end, because they're both fantastic cars and can be had for a very similar price and have very similar performance numbers, it all comes down to what you prefer. Do you like refinement, smoothness, and balance? Then you want the BMW. Do you prefer a more raw sporty feel and flashy good looks? Then you want the G35 Coupe.

I still love the 330ci ZHP and imo is one of the best looking BMW's ever made and even with the e92 around the 330ci ZHP is still quite a looker and a classy looking car.

If you're getting an 05+ G, watch out for the oil consumption problem. It affects most rev-up motors.
To the person who asked if the 03-04's are shit? No they're not. The engine red-lines at a lower rpm and has a lower peak HP, but has a higher peak torque. The 6mt models of 03-04 also come with brembo brakes which the 05+ do not. The 03-04 are 18" wheels as opposed to 19" of the 05+

Nice car. I'm not a fan of re-badging but I'm glad your friend took off the Infiniti emblem too.

I like the emblem tbh, dang my car is like straight up bone stock. No tints no nothing.

+1 I like your car the way it is, if you plan on tinting, don't do 5% like i did >.< it's impossible to live with at night
those led license plate lights look pretty good IMO
maybe spraypaint some of the chrome to the dark chrome colour, but bright chrome looks good on black too.
Wheels are gonna cost a pretty penny

My mod list ..

tint rear lights
two way alarm
navi
greedyevo2 exhaust
But that isn't going to be for a while..

what sort of nav system are you looking at? an oem infiniti one or a custom double din etc.?
lol why bother with a two way alarm? seems like you wouldn't need it in a car like this, although what do i know, i'm using a ghetto $4 key from crappy tire :haha:
adon's headlights would look great on your black car!

I don't know, which is better for navi ? I want two way because i don't want people stealing my side lights but it isn't necessary..
ilvtofu
10-17-2009, 03:26 PM
I'd go for a custom double din like this one
http://i18.tinypic.com/54obtab.jpg
just because the options are limitless, if you really just wanted something for nav just buy a garmin portable one for $150 LOL
but this way you can get full ipod integration and possibly rear view camera etc.
possibly even watch movies and sing k in your car *not recommended :haha:
LOL This guy has both!

wondering abt the 2 way alarm too. I like having a pager and the increase distance but it is going to interfere with the OEM alarm? g35 don't have the keyless and the button start how about for the newer generation with keyless entry and button start and the proximity lights that come on when your near the car, can compustar 2 way alarms intergrate that as well?
