Where is a good place for dinner that's not overly priced? I've been looking online at different restaurants and menus, but all they provide is the menu but no price with it.

Stupid restaurants just want me to book it and eat there and surprise me with a huge bill at the end of the dinner.

They charge close to $50/person. ridiculous for that kind of environment.

Was just at DB Bistro Moderne last week before the day before the dineout started and they had a valentines day set... i think it was 80$. The food there was really good tho. I think Lumiere has valentines day set for 135.

I've never had such wonderful piece of steak, ever. It just melts in my mouth. I take back wut I said & admit that I was talking out from my ass.:(

Personally I'm not sure why people love Seasons and why it is ranked so high on Dinehere.ca

View is dope there is no argueing that but the food is avg at best imo.

My suggestion is Diva At The Met or Connor Butler although they are on the "pricier" side if you will.

which would you guys recommend between lumiere and joe fortes? i know there's a huge discrepancy in the prices, but everything on the fortes menu looks good to me; whereas some things on the lumiere menu i would rather pass on, even though they give you options. i haven't been to lumiere since they changed chefs either and i've heard the quality has gone down since. so basically, with that in mind, would you guys still say lumiere is worth the extra price tag?

But.. the new Chef de Cuisine at Lumiere is Dale Mackay, who works under Chef Daniel Boulud (which has extremely high standards) so I don't think the quality has gone down and has rather gone up.

Although not all restaurants are available through opentable.com go check out whats available. Saves you the hassle of calling every damn place to check. Just go to their site and pop in a time for said restaurants too see availability

Only places that dont jack up the prices for Valentines day are fastfood type places. As far as I have seen all mid-high class places charge insane prices for somthing as basic as steak and prawns...I guess they figure that people will pay it thou. For me I am going to go to the market buy a bottle of wine, 2 nice ribeyes and fresh veggies, grill em up, and serve me and my gf for half the price. Plus, chicks like it when you cook for them !!

Rikaro
02-13-2009, 11:59 PM
going out with a friend/date tomorrow. Anywhere else that's pretty decent but doesn't have crazy jacked up prices? I mean even some special noodle house is fine with me too. Don't want to spend a fortune anyway (single or not) Looking for under $20/ person

Yea so was I, way to abuse the romanticness of the night to gip me of a dessert!:haha: And I failed to see any LAVA. The oysters were the bomb though, made the entire meal worth it. I had the lobster, which after giving my gf part of the tail meat, there was nothing left lol. But she had a ton of crab, so I ate that.
