| So who wants to go to Brakendale to shoot Bald Eagles on Sunday? Part Deux.
Who's in for next Sunday, January 25? I'm going for sure.

I was thinking of upgrading to a 5D. Not sure about the mk2 tho. Too much $$ for me ATM. But anyway, reason is because once I saw how much wider my lens is on my film SLR I figured I can sell my XTi and the 10-22mm wide angle, and that would cover 75% of the cost of a used (or nearly new used) lens.
Or should I wait and save up for the 5D mk2? What do you think?
Thanks

Certain locations will be fine with a 200mm, others will be kinda pointless unless you have a high megapixel camera and can heavy crop.
Put me down as a maybe, I may end up going towards harrison for eagle shots, I had some better luck there yesterday

Do you guys recommend me bringing my 70-300mm and 150-500mm, or just the 150-500mm?

70-300is? bring it, its probably sharper then your sigma so I would use it on the closer shots. If you meant the 75-300 kits lens, leave that at home, or face ridicule =)

Haha, no it's the 70-300mm IS. K, I'll bring that too.
I just came back from Fort Langley, there are a lot of eagles there too actually. But there isn't any good areas to pull over. And everytime I did, they took off those bastards...

wouldn't you be able to crop the pictures from the 5d to get the same image from a 1.6 crop camera?

If the crop camera was say a 30D and under, yes it would be about the same, but with the newer higher MP 1.6x cameras you get more "pixels per duck" as it were. The more pixels the bird covers in the frame, the more you can work with to keep it sharp when cropping.

FOV yes, but thats like saying I could use a wider lens on my crop body to get the same FOV as a 5D? wouldn't make sense image wise now would it.

Yea, FOV, yes, but with less resolution. I may try the D3x, but to attach a 500mm f4 to a D3x is just asking for a sore back.

K, so how do you guys normally do this? Where do you meet and what time? I'll be coming out from Langley, so I'll need at least extra 45 minutes (if not more - thanks to the closing of Patullo bridge) to get to Vancouver.

Kyle met me at 8am and we took my car out to Brackendale. We could do the same thing.
