| Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
Planning on doing this soon. Anyone out there who's completed it, is it do-able in 2-3 months?

It's doable in a couple of days if you aren't a moron.

Easiest test ever. You'd have to be illiterate in order to fail.

Don't you have to spend some time reading the book and do the calcs? I mean, if you have no knowledge and just common sense going into the test, I'm pretty sure you'd have to take at least twice before passing...

Seriously. I never understood how anyone could fail the text unless they misread every single question and answer. Or they were just plain stupid. Like really really stupid.

I would have no idea because I haven't taken it yet, but would be interested to. Some of my friends spend like more than 6 months to study for it... Anything you need to aim for? Or just a > 50% pass and you get a cert?

To give you an idea of how easy it is.. I studied for about 2 days, finished each test in about 20 minutes and passed.
CSC is a joke.

What would be an example of a question on the test?
I'll probably do this in the summer when I have less classes. Planning on taking the Financial Planning route after CSC.

To be realistic and not bullshit like Dafonz, the test is relatively easy, but not a piece of cake. I wrote the exam about a year ago and probably finished everything in 3 weeks (studying + exams). I came out with high 80's (honours). I am a Finance major, so the stuff was relatively watered down.
The first exam was mainly questions from equity and fixed income. For example, bond calculation and margin.
The second exam was geared towards the actual asset allocation.
Good luck

For those who found it so easy, how did you manage to remember all the organizations and regulators so easily??? Seems like there are a lot of tidbit info that may or may not be on the exam making it more difficult to study

These are the only regulatory bodies you need to know.
1)Securities are overlooked by the Provincial Regulatory Bodies.
2)The Five SRO's - MFDA, TSX Exchange, etc
3)The companies that protect insolvency. CDIC, etc

Anagrams, mnemonics and/or an SRS. http://ichi2.net/anki/
Also remember the pass rate is something stupid like 60%.

i thought the first one was harder than the second one. If you can go hardcore for 3 or so days, then you should be fine. It's mostly memorizing odd facts. haha
