i just turned my ps3 on today to watch some movies and noticed that it looks like all the sub-icons are melting on my screen.....i dont know if this is a trendy new update...or someone has slipped acid in my orange juice...

i have never noticed this...(sorry for shitty pix...couldnt find my digi, so i had to use the crackberry)
notice the main string of icons are normal(with killzone 2 theme) and the sub-icons look like they are melting

i changed the theme back to the original, but everythign still look melted


please tell me this is from a new update or something hahaha

at least it isnt ruining any performance or anything...just visual it seems

i downloaded the update and didn't notice anything, but then again i'm using a FF7 theme

try installing another theme and then change it back to original and see if that works

update...it is not a theme....it now happens on everything....even when i push my ps3 button to shut down the system it happens there now too!!!

im assuming the ps3 is over heating....becasue when i shut it off and turn it back on after a bit...everything is normal....then after watching a movie on it....i go to the menu and everythign is fucked....then i shut it off and wait abit...then it is normal again...WTF!

^It's not melting it should be a theme. Just change it. Go to settings.

how does the theme randomly change through out the day? it doenst make sense....and before only certain icons were fucked up...now everything and i mean everything is melting on the screen.

IE. all icons, i cant even read the text it is all melted and screwed


i dont think my ps3 is literally melting, but it might be overheating or the hdmi cable is fuxxor'd

there are themes that change during the day
well at least i know of wallpapers changing for a certain theme

if you think its the hdmi cable, go try a new cable

i highly doubt its the HDMI cable then if everything else is fine and just your main screen

have you try installing a theme on there and see if things change?

is there such a thing as a ps3 virus? maybe one of your themes had a virus attached? or maybe you downloaded a theme that attaches to another theme and does this?

it wont be any hardware or cables or anything like that if movies/games pay normally.

you can find plenty on google, just type in ps3 themes
most of the sites will teach you how to add it onto your ps3

theres a thing in the system settings "complete system restore" or somthing like that

it does pretty much everything itself, the full one takes about 3 hours

does it make an autobackup for saved game files and such? or does it fully delete everything and start over?

you have to go to back up OS first..
or you could try manually copying all your game saves to flash drive/mem card/external HDD.

nope....i left my ps3 on for easily 2 weeks and it never happened.....a year later i leave it on for half a day and it is happening

can always use a portable harddrive to back up your system (game saves and everything else in there) and then restore it
or put in another harddrive and transfer all the data into it and see if its still melting
