I reconnected the ribbon cable going to the reset/eject buttons but still nothing, what else was wrong with it when you took it apart?

Not a thing. It worked as I can remember, at most needed a cleaning.The room mate tried to clean it. Cat knocked it off the couch and the ribbon came off. He bought me a new one and its Been in storage ever since.
