I'm headed to Amsterdam in April, looking forward to buying pre-rolled joints out of cafe's! Would love it here, providing it wasn't taxed to shit

pretty much decriminalized, except in terms of trafficking and growing..
legalization is pretty much inevitable, just a matter of time
heroine and cocaine coming up next.... to save addicts, were just too stupid to realize that we need to legalize it to fix the problem

Yeah here it isn't really a huge deal if it's legalized, but it would be kinda cool to walk out of a store with a fat sack.

I can understand it for medical use, but I honestly can't wrap my head around why people want to use substances that alters their behavior / thinking just for the sake of fun... guess that's why I don't do drugs, drink, smoke... or drink coffee for that matter. I suppose then in my world, I'd allow marijuana available for medical use, but ban it for recreation. Also would ban cigarettes.
meh.

Try not to buy the pre-rolled joints actually; they are a rip off compared to buying it in sacks there. Plus, a lot of the places selling prerolled will have other shit inside like tobacco.
Amsterdam is largely a tourist trap - I've smoked great shit back in Vancouver for half the price, given that the Euro is quite strong and that Loonie like shit.

You might not understand why people would want to do it, but so long as it doesn't affect you what right should you have to tell people what they can do with their own bodies or not?

I'll keep that in mind, I knew Europeans were stingy about rolling pure weed joints, but didn't relize they'd sell them mixed. Ug. Thanks for the heads up.
Oh ya, I smoke it because it alters my behavior and that makes things fun. And really, you only live once, trying weed isn't that bad. Unless you're one of those people who is convinced that weed is the Ultimate gateway drug and that you'll start smoking crack right after.

that's like saying we shouldn't care about people who do crack or who want to kill themselves.
it doesn't affect us?
or that's like saying hundreds die in third world countries every month but it doesn't affect US over here so we shouldn't do anything about that.
i agree with you that doing weed isn't a big deal but the way you went at it was in the wrong way.

Bump with a good history article
Funny quote from the article...
"Two other fear-tactic rumors started to spread: one, that Mexicans, Blacks and other foreigners were snaring white children with marijuana; and two, the story of the "assassins." Early stories of Marco Polo had told of "hasheesh-eaters" or hashashin, from which derived the term "assassin." In the original stories, these professional killers were given large doses of hashish and brought to the ruler's garden (to give them a glimpse of the paradise that awaited them upon successful completion of their mission). Then, after the effects of the drug disappeared, the assassin would fulfill his ruler's wishes with cool, calculating loyalty.
By the 1930s, the story had changed. Dr. A. E. Fossier wrote in the 1931 New Orleans Medical and Surgical Journal: "Under the influence of hashish those fanatics would madly rush at their enemies, and ruthlessly massacre every one within their grasp." Within a very short time, marijuana started being linked to violent behavior."

If everyone smoked weed there wouldn't be any fights! I've never gotten high and wanted to fight someone. I'm usually 10 times nicer then I would be if I wasn't high.

comparing a highly addictive potentially deadly drug with pot makes no sense either. nor does comparing it with suicidal behaviour and death. if you could find a single incident of death/suicide attributed to marjiuana i might see your point but you won't find one. if you're speaking of the health issues around pot and the burden on the health system due to smoking, those to can be avoided by different means of consumption.

i think it should be legalized... i think it would straighten up our economy... if weed is illegal... why isn't alcohol...same stuff to me...i'd rather be next to a stoned guy on the bus rather than someone who is wasted and puking and shit
if they legalize pot
- the GDP will skyrocket due to the over consumpton of snack foods! 7-11 will rival costsco in sales!
- nothing will ever get done, ppl would be too stoned out to lift a finger
- all olympic records will never be broken again, cept for the new one, being stoned the longest.
- ppl will start forgetting things, in fact, they will forget this post ever existed.
- over abundance of Hemp (which isnt a bad thing if they use this to make bio deisel or some other form of fuel)
the only reason why the legalization hasnt happened yet is cuz the ones supporting it are too stoned to continue.
hahahhaa being around some people who are just ripped is hilarious. in a 7-11 one time i blew some guys mind because he asked how much 12 chicken wings were at 69 cents each or something. There was a sign for 12 right next to them.

My body is not a place the government should have jurisdiction.
If you want to pay 100% of your medical bill, including the wages of the doctors, nurses etc if you need medical assitance due to the use of narcotics, then great! They certainly don't have jurisdiction over your body. If I'm paying the bill through my taxes to have some crack head be in the hospital because they fucked up, then yes, the government does have some jurisdiction over their body.

Yes because some how not doing unnecessary hallucinogens somehow leads to the halt of development and evolution...
