Tell him to buy a tripod, and stop using the on camera flash, the lens is causing a shadow anytime he uses the flash. 3/4 of the shots are blurry from hand shake, he needs faster glass or a tripod for sure.

As for washing in the garage, one can wash their car in the garage with new products like Optimum No Rinse that require the car not be hosed down.

Anyways, sitting so close to the steering wheel has negative effects when involved in a crash such as but not limited to increased trauma to the chest, facial damage, and other safety related issues. If one is sitting less then 10 inches from the steering wheel there is a risk of injury. From the picture, he is nowhere near that close.

As well, through driving school, the general tip has been that one's wrists should be able to sit on top of the steering wheel. He is within reach of that.

I didn't realize being safe constitutes being a noob or theft from his parents.

I agree with both of you, it was really close. I just don't notice it as much because when you open the driver door, the seats move back and when you close it they move forward. So i didn't notice it as much because getting in and out was a breeze. I didn't want to move the seat for my mom, I'm fine though, but I'll keep it in mind for next time. Thanks for the tip.

It's not about the equipment, it's how you use it

you beat me to it, the equipment doesnt have anything to do with getting nice shots, its all up to the photographer. you can probably give your friend(s) a 1ds or something and still wont get any better shots. the composition of the shots are off, they just don't work. the lighting is crap too, having the flash only on part of the car and the rest dark.. i'd suggest going through the automotive pic thread in the photo forum on RS to get some ideas and inspiration, and maybe look at more car magazines. that would be a start.

Tell your friend to use the tripod or monopod for night shots unless he has the hands of a surgeon. And when on the tripod, use the self-timer button so that the vibrations stop before the camera clicks and takes the picture. Oh, if he's using an external flash (not the pop-up one from the camera... it sucks really bad. :() tell him to get a diffuser or bounce card to light the car more evenly.

On the other hand, this second set is better technically, but still lacking on the composition side of things. They're a bit too bland... Find more interesting angles to take pictures of the car! Perspective is everything. Try either going really high up or really low for unique viewpoints that you don't see every day. :) :haha:

yup, I actually like the OEM Sport 18s. They imo look a hella lot better than these rims. I wanted my mom to get G37S 19s for summer and use the G35S Sport 18s for winter, but the way we went was a lot cheaper and more practical.

haha sorry I wasn't to clear. My mom paid for them, not me. She was going to buy locally but then I showed her tirerack, and since it was cheaper we went through them. She let me choose the rims, thats all.

Thanks man, really appreciate it. Like I've mentioned before, I don't really care what most people think of me. Yeah I may be one of the few on here with an L still, but theres nothing I can do about it. I got mine asap and the earliest I can get my N is December. No need to be envy btw, a lot of things I work for. Obviously I didn't pay for the car, but I pay for all my detailing supplies. I just spent $300 or so on some detailing supplies. Some may think that I'm doing my parents a favour for doing their cars so in turn they should pay for it, but I'm not using over the counter products. Detailing, is a hobby of mine so I pay for it. I am happy though to be able to have a three car garage, really helps with the winter washes.

HAHA very true on your point. I understand that it is for all age groups, but my dad is pretty simple. He uses his car to get from A to B. He doesn't care much about cars, my mom enjoys the technology in cars but still has 0 passion for cars. I'm the only one in my family that has a passion for cars, so I may have to wait.
