Stolen home theatre systems?

About a week ago I was standing in the Ironwood parking lot having a cup of coffee when a dark coloured new Chevy Tahoe pulled up. A 30ish white guy asks me if I want to buy a home theatre system for a great deal. That he was picking up an order and the kid double loaded his truck. He has to be back at his boss' in an hour and wants to unload the "extra" shipment for some cash. I refused, assuming they were hot.
Strangely, the same thing happened to me again at the Home Depot lot on Terminal. This time a white Escalade, different guys.
Are they selling hot stuff? Has this happened to anyone else recently?
My only other thought is that they put together some really terrible equipment, and use the technique so the buyer "looks" like he's getting a good deal.

Kev
It is.
The stuff preys on the perception that something that is a huuuuuuuuuuge discount is automatically a good deal, ignoring the underlying value. It's kind of like being offered a 81 Chevette at $5000 as a "deal" when the seller originally was asking for $50k.
What a deal! 90% off! Of course as a buyer you know a Chevette is worth nowhere near $5k.

The best is when you're at a stop light and the guys roll up beside you and ask you when your window's down.

call the cops on them
I was reading on another forum that what there doing is not illegal, because they are issuing receipts. Obviously when a cop comes around they will tell them the truth that the speakers aren't stolen.

Very old tactic
They're basically a poorly manufactured speakers, thats mass marketed. Much like a BOSE speaker. :)
If you do more research, alot of times people are kind of content with the purchase. This is much like the stuff you find @ XS Cargo for much cheaper. Not good stuff, but really entry level.

One of my classmates showed up in biology 30-45 minutes late holding a theatre system. Teacher asked him why he was late and he responded "This dude was selling this for such a cheap price!". Teacher ignored him and asked him to sit down.

this scam has been going on for 20+ years. those guys that sell the speakers can make 15-20,000 a month! It isn't going anywhere. I fell for it once and paid 300 for the speakers. Their cost is something like 98 bucks for the set. I know a guy that used to work for a company before. They basically just smoked weed did coke and sold speakers all day. He got tired of the life...I don't know how  :lol
they go all over canada doing this shit...

That happened to me before. I pulled up in front of Future Shop, they pull up next to me and ask me if I want to buy a home theater setup for a great price. I give them that WTF look and say Umm no. He looks at me and laughs and says "Heard that one before eh?" and pulls off.
