I'm not quite too sure where this topic would fit in well. So I chose the photography since I'm pretty sure someone would know what i'm talking about if they do editing.

Is it normal to see images darker with less details when it's scrolled to the top of my screen. While images being displayed at the bottom of my screen shows more detail/lighter in color?

TOP - DARK (very little detail)
MIDDLE - MEDIUM (balance of both, but still lacks details)
BOTTOM - LIGHT (not as dark and lots of details are shown)

It's starting to really bother me since I check my daily photoblogs, I would have to scroll the images up and down on my screen to see full detail/color of the pictures.

Is there a way to set my monitor or PC to view the pictures as a whole with it's full details and colors?

Using a Samsung 216BW monitor & nVidia 8600GT.

I havent done it myself but apparently you can use monitor calibration tools like this thing

It's to do with the viewing angle. If your eyes are level with the center of the screen, you are looking down at the lower half and up at the top half.

One of the drawbacks of a cheap LCD monitor. Higher end monitors do not have or have greatly minimized it. Compare the screens of a Macbook & an iMac - totally different.

Read this (http://www.pchardwarehelp.com/guides/lcd-panel-types.php) to see what the differences between the panels are. You've probably got one of the cheaper TN panels which is why the colors change depending on your viewing angle as well as the lower color depth.

You can try take your chances on a Dell 2007WFP monitor (if you can find one)...some of them have S-IPS, and some were S-PVA. The S-IPS is the one you want. The Dell 2005FPW is also an S-IPS if you can find one used. (that's what I'm using right now)

I dunno, this sounds more like a failing monitor to me, than a calibration or viewing-angle issue. LCDs typically have a series of very thin fluorescent tubes behind the screen to provide the backlighting, and it really sounds to me like the tube(s) at the top of the screen may be dying or dead.

dell has an E-IPS screen that they recently released. Its been getting really good reviews so far.
