TOKYO — Lucky Japanese consumers now can order go-fast bits for the new Honda Insight from the automaker's longtime aftermarket performance affiliate Mugen.

Mugen is offering a line of "Zero Lift" aerodynamic parts, including front spoiler, side skirts, rear dam and rear wing. There is also a Mugen sport grille and a variety of alloy wheels.

Hardware upgrades from the tuner include a sport suspension package ($1,144) and sport exhaust ($800) as well as an intelligent tire-monitoring system ($895). Interior enhancements include sport pedals ($155) and sport mats ($265).

Thanks to Mugen, the Japanese domestic-market edition of the Insight looks a little less like a Prius. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

This Vehicle was designed to save-fuel, not to go hardcore-fast..

that wing is going to cost you at least 3mpg....actually no.
i know the link is in Japanese but according to Mugen, the rear wing will increase the downforce without increasing the coefficient of drag.
also the whole kit will decrease the coefficient of drag while increasing the downforce.

Why the hell would Mugen develop a "sport" exhaust for a hybrid???? Pretty stupid, if I say so.

This is the same reason a large part of me thinks modding Civics is a waste of time.

What's the point! You're being counter productive!

That's just their marketing stunt. Don't be stupid timpo. Hold that wing above your head and start running forward see if that wing doesn't try to pull back....

I know your point but Mazda claimed the OEM rear spoiler for the FC RX-7 will actually decrease the drag. This might be just another marketing thing but if it's true, then I guess the aerodynamics isn't that simple.

RX7 I can understand it's designed to look sleek and sexy and maybe there is some turbulence or whatever at some point that can be helped by a wing

BUT an Insight was thoroughly designed to give the least aerodynamic drag aesthetics be damned, adding a wing to that is definitely not a good idea.

That's like prius with 18" rims and a GT wing....

I don't feel the body kit, nor the spoiler. Handling upgrades are always good, though.

Never thought I'd use this as I'd say I am somewhat of a Honda fanboy, but what is the point of this Mugen Hold On Not Done Accelerating Insight???

Nevermind, it's a timpost.
