That store is Polar Battery at 1258 Boundary (Burnaby side, between Charles and William streets). Take your old one along so they can match it, in case it needs to be a particular size/dimension to fit.

You can also find those batteries at RP Electronics just near Brentwood Mall. 12V/4.5Ah should go for around $20-$25.

Of course, I just go across the highway and get them wholesale for about $8

Good plan, except the alarm still works without the backup battery. It only becomes a problem when the power is out to the house.

Edmunds batteries, Polar batterise, etc. I even think Home Depot used to carry them. Phone first, in case they no longer do so.

Polar is probably your best bet if you live in Vancouver.

Cool........ not that I need one now, but those things are not cheap. I think mine cost me 45 bucks or so and it only lasted a few years. I guess because the power went out quite few times in my area during that period. The alarm battery in mom's house went for ten years without needing replacement.

Alarm batteries are only good for around 2 years and then they start losing their ability to lose a charge but I've seen some accounts with 5+ years.

You can also get the battery at RP Electronics in Burnaby but they're expensive. Make sure you get the 12V battery and not the 6V. Just get the same 4.5Ah rating. There isn't really a need to spend money on anything higher unless your area experiences frequent blackouts.

edit: didn't see that someone else already mentioned RP.

He's probably referring to one of the two alarm suppliers. I won't get into the names since I'm unsure if they'll sell to people without accounts but one starts with a T and the other starts with an A. I've heard stories of one of the guys at one of the suppliers ringing a cash sale through someone else's account and getting into shit for it.
