| Victor to introduce handmade earphone made out of birch
apparently this earphone will give you better sound than plastic earphones.
very thin! only 85 microns!
only 4.5mm diameter, the thickness is only 35 micron
hand made
tested by the technician
the outer texture will be different for every earphone because it's the real wood. pretty cool
(looks a bit fake to me tho...those layers are bit too small comparing to the sheet of wood in the other pic) |

The purple ones were the first ones I got, but I had to send them back for adjustment and they agreed to re-shell them for me as the purple color was way off from what I had specced to begin with. I had better pictures of the purple ones than the orange ones, hehe.
The new ones:
My collection before going portable-only.
Grado RS-2, Darth Beyers-600 (Beyerdynamic DT770-600 modified with wooden cups), Audio-Technica W1000. Not show in the picture is the ASL MG Head MKIII tube amp that I used to power everything, nor the Tomahawk the wood-cased iPod 5G connected to. Quote:

I used to have an iAudio X5 + Tomahawk setup going too, before Asian monsoon rain killed the X5. I now run a Creative Zen X-Fi, which sound great but doesn't work on Mac.
They sound better than anything less than a pair of HD650's being driven by dual-balanced Beta22's. If you connect them to a high-end home headphone amp they sound incredibly good, too. Really picky on source though - very sensitive with hiss if source player is not dead quiet.

WOW very nice collection! Let me try your RS2 if you still have them! I have the SR-80 in my grado collection and am pondering about picking up a pair.
And as for portable usage goes, I love my westone um2

And as for portable usage goes, I love my westone um2 | All gone. I went portable-only because I got too busy to sit down and listen to music at my desk.
Quite happy with my UE11 + Zen X-Fi combo, though.

Where'd you get your ear impressions done? I got mine done at the Burnaby Hearing Centre and my first batch were bad.
