Slumdog was an awesome movie.

Read the synopsis and it put me off watching it for months even though it was getting great reviews. My wife and I finally watched it last night and I have to say it was way better then I thought it would be. Kept me intrigued the whole way through, great movie.

Where was Daniel Day Lewis? How come he was absent from presenting the Best Actor in a Leading Role award? Typically, the previous winners for Best Actor/Actress from last year come back to present the new winners.

Visual Effects: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Huge, *HUGE* disappointment. Sure I haven't seen Benajmin Button but I'm almost certain that it couldn't have beat out Ironman of The Dark Knight for visual effects.

Otherwise, I thought all the winners were in-line with what the pre-buzz was about.

Typically that is the routine but they changed it up this year I guess with 5 of the previous winners. I thought the line-up for the 5 previous male best actors were way better then the line-up for the 5 previous female best actors. Having Robert DeNiro, Anthony Hopkins, Ben Kingsley AND Michael Douglas on stage at the same time?!

Another highlight for me was the opening award for supporting actress with Whoopi presenting Meryl Streep for her role in "Doubt" and her nun remarks.

Holy jesus. I think Slumdog is way over hyped. I just hopped onto IMDB to check what movies I should buy, and the front page showed all the winners. Literally 90% of the wins were from Slumdog.

How come the dark knight wasn't even nominated for most of the bigger awards? I thought it was hyped up out out of its mind, and frankly, it lived up to that hype.

Not only at the Oscars, but the golden globes as well..

No, Benjamin Button is superior. They took Brad Pitt's face, imposed it on an old man and made it look authentic and seamless.

ooohhhh yeah Alicia Keys was hawt as hell but didn't really look like her, but omg waaaay hotter than Beyonce (who looked fat btw)

Ben Stillers, Joaquin Phoenix impression was hilarious

edit2:
Did you guys see the Red Carpet show? Danny Boyle seems like a reallllly cool guy, he even brought a bunch of nobodies from the movie who are actually from the slums in Mumbai to the Oscars

+1 for both statements. It was pretty funny cause I was watching it over dinner with my parents that know almost nothing about hollywood stars and they saw Beyonce with her thunder thighs and said something like "Waaaaahh, look at those pork chop thighs!! Even the backup dancer in the black has thinner thighs!!" :haha:

I didn't watch the red carpet but if they were the same people that went up on stage with him to accept best picture, most of not all were the cast of the movie.

Yeah, Benjamin Button def outdid Ironman and Dark knight in terms of visual effects  It's not all about the CGI or blue/green screens, it's literally manipulating Brad Pitt's face and putting it onto someone elses' FLAWLESSLY.
Def worth watching =]

On another note, i need to watch slumdog. Honestly, i didnt even know there was such a movie until it was mentioned for oscar nomination

P.S. Hugh Jackman was freaking AWESOME. Opening act was quite amazing<3

what happened

well, apparently, a little while back, one of mickey's little toy poodles died and he lost it. barbara walters laid into a very touching, heartwarming interview. packed with a sob story about how his dogs mean everything to him.
it was quite comical until i realized they weren't joking.
sucks too, cuz i really like mickey rourke as an actor. i mean really, mickey? barbara walters?
