If the looters would work a deal with the police officials, the bidders' body parts will be up in auction.

next time they have the auction for the artifacts, u know it will go for higher as its been contested by CHINA, they just have to barr bids coming in from CHINA,,
StylinRed
03-02-2009, 03:04 PM
it was expected china would grab some guy to be their bidder... whats ridiculous is he chose not to pay.... he would have been more of a "hero" if he bought em and donated them to China
its like how Ghandis famed belongings are going up on the Auction block this month, India wants them but says they're going to bid on them or find someone to bid for them... granted Ghandi's belongings isn't property of Indias but it could argued to be

I don't really see why everyone is praising him
If I'm the winning bidder on this Reventon

then I don't pay for it, and don't take delivery of it, do I have baller status? Hell no. Have I even really done anything at all? Nope.

By not paying the bid, it creats a financial lost to the french auctioneer, since they have to redo all the paperworks and stuff again.IF by any chance that the 2nd highest bidder already lost interests at the items, both items might not be sold after all.

I totally agree with cococly. This just shows how ridiculous, ignorant, and selfish people can be sometimes.
And screwing up an auction is not the appropriate way of bringing a political or nationalistic message.
The fact that these items were looted many years ago does not make what this person did correct.
He's not a national hero and people cheering him on should be ashamed.

^ I am sure they have humiliated all the French people
reading some of the chinese forums and news group...it's full of "OWNED!!!" replies.

the reason that he wont pay is because the artifacts are robbed from China by the french two hundred years ago...
would you pay money to robbers to buy back what belongs to you?

Well, he can enjoy his 15 minutes of fame. The auction is out, what.. 7, 8 thousand Euro? Tops? I think they'll be able to safely recoup that money.
He still doesn't have them. The rest of the world looks on him like some sort of deadbeat and his "heroism" will be eventually forgotten to the Chinese people.

Fixed.
Part of why China can't get it back through legal methods.

that doesnt' matter.. Qing dynasty is one dynasty of China so it belongs to China..
If China goes to England in the past and stole robbed something from Beckham palace, can you say because the queen back then is dead so you don't have to return the goods to england?

China was so fucking weak back then they got invaded by a small country called Japan and almost lost the war. That's what happen when you are the sick man of Asia and try to isolate yourself thinking China is the center of the Universe. So stop crying over 2 bronze POS that was "stolen" 200 years ago.
The Chinese did more damages (destroying relics) to themselves in culture revolution than anything you can imagine.

you basically just said the below situation is normal and ok:
Your grandfather is a crack addict, and his neighbour broke into his house and rob him off his 65 GTO 40 years ago because he couldnt give up a fight.
40 years later, that neighbour is auctioning the GTO off for 120,000 and claim it as legal. You as the grandson should not protest because your grandpa was weak and delusional.
How does that make sense in your world?
For reading reference, I think anything remotely related to logic or moral will do for now.

Better example: if the Ming Dynasty went to the Holy Roman Empire to rob something, should present day China return the items to Germany/Austria?
