Not that reading reviews of a movie says much but after reading a bunch of comments on rottentomatoes it appears most people are saying bad movie because there was not much talking, no depth, but many machines and explosions. So it would appear if you just go into it enjoying pure action but not giving a damn about acting and story you should be fine. Either way I'm hyped regardless.

reminded me a lot more of fallout 3 (except the robot part).

not really a spoiler but

i liked the first half of the movie but then i found it to be a little predictable towards the end... and i thought christian bale overacted sometimes and made the movie seem a little cheap/corny.

real spoiler below

when arnold showed up all computer animated, that killed it for me. it was just like seeing the rock in the mummy completely CG. also really poor execution with recycling the classic arnold lines "i'll be back" and "come with me if you want to live". shit was corny

iEatClams
05-24-2009, 01:08 AM
saw it at riverport- was pretty packed for my showing - except for the bottom section. top section was full.

Good movie if u just want mindless action. Action scenes were really epic with the robots and the dooms-day scenaries.

but otherwise, shietty, shietty storyline.

Felt bad for christian bale, he apparently only agreed to do this movie if script was written, but they had the writers strike and the director screwed him over and went on with it. . . john conner's character did nothing in this movie.
but i think he got a huge salary, so guess i dont feel bad for him. haha

overall, worth the price of admission because of the graphics and stuff.

super corny love-type scene by the fire with the girl . . . also, wouldnt the guy know he's a robot when he doesnt get a boner? lol- i mean the chick is like model looking with her makeup and shiet (isnt this suppose to be post armagedon, where does she find the time to do her hair, make up etc. .

stuff99
05-24-2009, 05:48 AM
It's better than T3, but not up to par with the first two. Had no heart...didn't add much to the storyline really. It's really a prequel.

ctsport
05-24-2009, 03:46 PM
I was very disappointed with this movie. I didn't even expect a decent plot, just to see some cool graphics and man the movie didn't even deliver on that. If I knew how mediocre this film was going to be, I wouldnt even bother watching it on DVD lol.

SPOILER>>>>>

*mod edit - spoiler tag*

Does anyone else think how stupid it was that the supposedly all powerful Skynet, the same Skynet that annihilated half the human population (or whatever) had only 1 freakin' robot to defend Skynet Central? LOL.
Remember, Skynet was playing Conner and the hybrid all along, they didn't really disable Skynet's defenses. Maybe I was expecting too much, I was hoping for at least one big battle, with hundreds if not thousands of terminators vs humans; not some lame 1 vs 1 to save the human race. :(

This made T3 look good. Seriously, most illogical and brainless plot ever, horrid dialogue, terrible, just terrible.

It looked gorgeous though. Only redeeming quality and the only reason I didn't walk out like some of my buddies the other night.

How did skynet know that kyle reese is his father???? That part made no sense

Also, if the humans knew skynet made kyle reese their no.1 priority, why would they overlook it and think its nothing? Wouldn't they suspect themselves that there is some importance to him?

RFlush

Why didnt they just kill Kyle Reese off after then got him to skynet? This movie was so bad.

Another thing that has always confused me with Terminator. If Kyle Reese is John's father, and John sends Kyle Reese back in time to pregnant Sarah, how did the first John send the first Kyle back?

Well, it would if you turned off your brain. There were just so many inconsistencies and just weird stupidity going on:
Kyle Reese. wtf is he doing in LA with a mute kid, yet knows where the Resistance could be found and he had the means (those cars) to get there?

Why do all cars seem to have gas in them?

Gas station scene: how the hell did they NOT hear a Transporter land, and giant Harvester come out and walk over?

Skynet has a friggin' terminal. What, so people could access it? So inefficient and non-machine-like.

I thought there were no guards inside the Skynet compound, but then they have one. One very, very stupid T-700 that sees Connor's little magic toy that can do anything and keeps walking. -_-

Speaking of Connor's magic toy, why does no one else have one?!?! Why aren't there fleets of Resistance-captured Moto-Terminators?!?! That was a pretty bad-ass scene when he took one though. :p

The afore-mentioned let's-not-kill-Kyle-Reese-right-away thing. Hell, that scout that chased their Jeep? It could've kamikaze'd into them and that would be game over. But no.

Heart transplant...yeah. No protests LOL And how would they know where to put the needles for his organic parts? He is still a Terminator, afterall.

And speaking of Termies, how the hell was the that T-800 so frakkin' tough?!?! It was like, indestuctible. This was 2018, before the 2030ish or whenever they sent back the Arnolds. Guess they don't make them like they used to. :p
Speaking of timeline, they didn't make it a point that John Connor knew a lot more about what was "supposed to happen" and supposedly one of the big plot points was supposed to be that the T-800 is being build almost 20 years before lit should've been developed by Skynet, and that this future is very different from the one where the original Kyle Reese came back from.

Ah well. I'll just watch the rest of the Sarah Connor Chronicles and let that cover over this crap. :D

Ya that's what I thought. For example:

Why did he get so excited when they found a way to disable the machines? He knew that wasn't gonna stop them because a lot of events that he knows will happen has not happened yet. Hell, he even knows he's gonna die in the future.

yeah, so i just saw it.

i say it's okay. it's just an action flick.

i still think terminator 2 was the last real terminator.

arnold wasnt as bad as i thought, he looked half decent

but yeah, how many fucking times did they have to use the damn corny ill be back line. or some other bullshit line. there were so many corny dumb things about this movie.

i'd say star trek was a better movie overall. actually in every category.

i read about this. the original script had less focus on the john connor character, but they had to make it more or else bale wouldn't sign on... i guess from what everyone else is saying in their reviews it didn't work so well. no wonder why bale had that hissy fit :p

Meh, I was expecting to be blown away, but I came out unimpressed. They should have at least had an all out battlefield scene with machines vs. humans with lots of blood and gore, crazy explotions/stunts. All they had were a few shots of the T800 walking around trying to act gangster. They also should have placed more emphasis on John Connor instead of those corny newb characters.

I think the issue with any Terminator movie that was made after T2 (One of the best science fiction movies ever made, if not THE best) is that everybody will hold it to that standard. The first two happened to be directed by James Cameron, who, say what you will about him being an egomaniac, is one of the best directors around. McG did as well as he could have with the script he had, considering his Charlie's Angels movies were almost unwatchable. The key with the first 2 movies is that Cameron put so much character development into the film that you actually cared about what happened to them, and that's missing from the last 2 films (with the exception of John Connor and Marcus Wright in the latest film). Overall I thought it was a solid movie, 7.5/10.
