I actually know the owner of the Keg. He also owns Gotham Steakhouse and Hy's Encore.
I'm actually quite surprised he stepped up and saved the fireworks. All he ever does is splurge his money on women and alcohol. He owns like a bentley, sl and a rover and even his own chauffeur!

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - It's come back from the dead, again. The Celebration of Light fireworks festival in Vancouver has been resuscitated, thanks to three new sponsors. Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson helped announce the revivial today, and says it will run July 22, 25, 29 and August 1, with Canada, South Africa, the U.K. and China taking part.

After being pronounced dead last month--"this time we really mean it"--the Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society says the fireworks have been saved as a new sponsorship deal has been reached. The Festival Society insists that unlike other years when they had announced funding problems, it was absolutely gone this time.

That is, until three sponsors came forward--The Keg restaurant, the Edgewater Casino, and ShoreFM--to cover the reported $400,000 shortfall.

On the street today, some people were breathing a sigh of relief, or is that breathe a sigh of hardened cynicism? "I'm not surprised. They do this every year. It's just one big ruse to get another sponsor. It seems they're very effective at doing it."
