SCreen of DEATH?
Hey guys i need your helps again.
SO recently i've been getting the screen of death on my laptop, it says insufficient memory or something along those lines. I've tried restarting, safe mode and " last known good configuration". I dont want to reformat, that would be my last resort right now.
ANything i can do?
thanks in advance

Going to need more information:
- What Operating System? Windows XP? Vista?
- What Laptop? (be specific with brand, model and specs)
- At what point does the Blue screen come up? During boot up? After windows is loaded? Randomly pops up?
If you're unable to get into safe mode, I'd also start looking at hardware as a possibility.
I'm not sure how comfortable you are with computers, but one way to test ram is to test in another laptop. Just make sure the laptop you're using to test supports that RAM...
If none of this makes any sense to you, it's time to give the laptop to somebody to fix.
Safe mode from windows booting up and it gives me a fatal system error.
Windows Xp, and i dont think it really matters for brand does it =P?
Yeah i think ir eally should get someone to fix it, but im going to try troubleshoot it myself

take out all but one stick of ram and try to boot. if it works, power down and swap in another stick. if it works with all but one of your sticks of ram, then that's whats toast.

^best way to find out if you dont got an extra laptop
take a clear picture of ur bluescreen and put it on here instead of everyone asking you questions and you not answering them specifically
a very relevant question might be your error code
begins with ie. STOP (0x1234567)
goggle that

Why wouldn't the brand and model matter? Every laptop is different.
If you don't want say, that's fine by me, but if you're asking for help online, it never hurts to give as much information as you can.
- you can google if it's a known issue.
- Recalls?
- Warranty?
- Are there BIOS updates?
- How many sticks of RAM does it come with?
- What kind of RAM does it use?
1 stickz of ram, 512mb i believe. and what type of ram, not quite sure at the moment.
No bios updates and no warranty.
if you want to test your memory, google search "MS memory diognostic"
its a little program you can download, burn onto a cd and run.

if ur burning a boot cd, mind as well try some popular ones such as the ultimate bootcd or backtrack
have you googled '0xc0000034' yet?
did you want to answer any of the guy's questions?
does this happen randomly? --> more likely ram
replace the ram, and see what happens.
have u installed any new hardware to your system?

you could also try burning any Linux LiveCD if you only have the one stick of RAM and see if you're able to boot with that. If you are it's Windows, if not, it's your hardware.
Did you install GoBack? (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=316503)
THanks for the replies ya'll.
I cant access windows at all right now. And i need an external cd drive which i'll be getting pretty soon.
ive tried going into safe mode and it the screen of death still shows up.
As for installing anything, yes windows XP updated itself and it asks to restart, and if i dont click on anything it'll reboot itself in 5mins.
After that it won't ever get pass windows xp load up.

I'm assuming you're going to be rebuilding the PC? If you don't have a CD drive on that machine, you can use PE Builder to build a Windows install that you can run off a USB drive if you want to get it done sooner.
