Saw this when I was on break at work.

Feel bad for the guy because the tow truck guy looked like he was having a hard time jimmying open the door. It would suck if he damaged the car trying to get the door open because the tow truck guy looked like he didn't know what he was doing, and I managed to snap off like 3 pictures while a crowd of ~8 people formed around to watch.

But then again there was a patty wagon in front of the car so maybe he did something bad?

Yes, it is....My buddies minitruck with bagged suspension had the frame sitting right on the ground. There was a ticket and tow placed on the window for expired time. Truck just sat there.

His job is to tow the vehicle. Any way you look at it that vehicle is gonna get towed. Do you expect the tow truck driver to treat the car like a baby with the utmost care and concern.. no. Thats not being realistic. He's not intentionally causing damage to the vehicle but its his ignorance of the car that may have caused the damage indirectly.

my friend in the UK used to use a tire boot on his car (peugeot 206gti) when he parked near his flat because his insurance company said it if his car gets stolen one more time he won't get coverage anymore (or anyone else for that matter :cry: ). he turns his wheels full lock against the curb so that it makes it difficult to tamper with the boot.

Whether it's a Bugatti Veyron or a Ford Pinto, breaking a city bylaw does not absolve a tow truck driver of damages he may cause when towing said vehicle. If the GTR actually WAS damaged, the owner can sue. If tow truck drivers were never held responsible for damage, then what incentive would there be for them to EVER take care not to damage a vehicle?

You say the lesson might dissuade the owner from parking illegally, true, but the punishment must fit the crime. For illegally parking in Vancouver the punishment is a fine and/or a tow NOT a tow PLUS hundreds of dollars of damage...

The picture of the BMW with the fire hose through it is a totally different scenario as it was obstructing the work of safety crews. If the GTR was obstructing a safety crew then I would have no problem with any damage that may occur to it.

I was late meeting someone, so I didn't get a chance to see if he did or not. I highly doubt he did though because they're the same guys that I see everytime I work. They drive by right at 301pm waiting for the ticket ppl. And then they swoop in to get either front/back of the car up and they pull it to thurlow and put the lights on, secure it, and drive away.
Those busters guys just grab those cars and get out of the way bc its robson and its always busy. One time I saw one of them just back his lift under an suv's rear wheels. Without getting out of the truck he would lift it up and drive away.

My car can only be flat-bedded, its too low. So I take extra care parking it, I never want it towed cause I know it'll be damaged and it'll be my fault.

Unless ICBC is vastly different than Ontario, if you're parked illegally, you're 100% at fault for any damages.

All GTR's are auto.

as long as you can fit the metal bar underneath the car, then u can lift it up with the dolley.

Never really seen a car in that price range getting it's window sill raped by a tow truck driver, plus its a new car in the market so i thought it would be interesting. I didn't even know that its bad to hoist a RWD car from the rears so at least i learned something out of this.
