Question about BUS 312

On the website it says it is recommended to have taken Bus 207/Econ 301
Is it really important to have taken that course already for those of you that have taken both already?
and which one out of Bus 207/Econ 301 did u take if u found it important?

took 207, no relation to 312 at all IMO...i had 312 with blazenko, he's a good prof
I took 207 with 312.
207 is economics with calculus.
312 is financial accounting + Present value + bond calculation.
Like what the others mentioned above no relation at all, but I guess ECON does help with understanding business cycles, but by now you should know it already right?
Blazenko was tough :S.

Zitron's ratings are similar though... =/
Blazenko or Zitron... decisions, decisions.

Zitron is better imo, tough Qs but as long as your notes are good, you are soild.
And he is fun too
Taken 207 and 301 before
Taking 312 with A. Rubin right now, no relation whatsoever with 207 or 301.
Taking 312 with Zitron right now, I would think accounting is more important than 207 for this course. Not as hard as people make it out to be, Zitron's a very awesome and funny prof

did somone say zitron? maybe he's nice but he left me with unpleasant memories...i had him for buec 232 and bus 413 and boy i really regret it...

207 is definitely easier. You just have to do ALL the assignments, not be a total dumbass, and you'll be fine.
301 on the other hand is pretty fucked lol. Being a good student may still not be enough cause the work tougher and hgiher chances you'll get a crappy prof. At least with 207 you're with Matadeen, i thought he was an awesome prof.
27% average for 301?!?! Shit i wish i was in that class. I'd get an A+ for sure!!! :haha:
first midterm does tend to be lower for 301
haha that was our avg too when i took 301 20/60
then prof gave everyone extra 20 marks

bump! I can't decide who to take 312 with, Zitron or Blazenko...am I just screwed either way? They both have good and crap reviews. Although Zitron's lecture is one day a week for 4 hrs, while Blazenko's is two days for 2 hrs each.
Anyone taken it with either of them, opinions please?

i'll go with zitron if i were you.
blazenko makes you learn this shit inside out, all the formulas and to know the material through-fucking-ly. plus, when you doing bonds and all that junk, he makes all this senseless bullshit about how many days in of a month you buy, and how many days of the other month you sell (that's where it gets complicated shit). zitron on the other hand, you don't need to know that shit.

thanks for the intel. Are you taking it right now, or did you already finish it?
Zitron all the way, the 4 hour class in SFU Surrey is bomb and it rarely ever goes to 4 hours, usually 2-3 hours.
Got an A, barely trying, easy class

is it a bad idea to take Blazenko's evening class, but attend day lecture? since day section is full, im thinking if i should register for evening class and only show up during exams. any advice?

On the first day, he'll tell you he doesn't care. And if I remember correctly, they may go at a slightly different pace. I think he said the evening class usually goes faster.

I took it with Blazenko last year. His textbook is literally junk, me and a handful of students were asking TAs for help during the first few weeks and none of us could understand a word in the textbook. His lectures are decent, even though he is really good with the stuff, he tends to rushes through things and its nearly impossible to catch up after because he assumes everybody would've known the past lectures inside out. Its just my personally opinion though, I couldn't really follow the theories even though I studied my ass off.
PS. A friend took it with another prof, not sure who, but I showed him my practiced exams made by Blazenko and he said he couldn't solve them because his exams/assignments are much easier.

My suggestion is to go through all the assignments, making sure you understand not only how to do them, but the reasoning behind it and then marking parts of the text book you feel you will are weak in.

i took it with blazenko.
i left 2 questions completely blank on the final but i got an A- in that course
i don't think anyone understood that course very well.
i think bus312 with blazenko and buec232 with george zhang were the only 2 courses i really had no idea what i was doing for the final.

I got one session, and it was Blazenko's son who helped me. I think he is still the president of the finance club. Funny that I complained to him about Blazenko's inability to teach before realizing that its his dad lol

took 312 with Blazenko last summer and I found it to be nearly a bird course. He hand feeds you the notes and his examples are what's tested practically. Doing his past tests really helps.

i would do ALL of the study questions at the end of each chapter.
those are very similar to what they put on the exams... least from when i took it..
i took it with zitron, best experience i had : D

Tutors from Finance Club are fairly decent. I've schooled with many of them, and they're smart kids. I took 312 with Zitron and thought he was great. He'll teach you the essense of discounting, which has helped me quite a bit on my fourth year finance classes and a bit on my CFA.

Do lots of practice questions. Most of the tested materials are covered in his notes, homework, and sample exams. Good luck.
